Hi there. I’ve just bought a 2007 Toyota Alphard 2 days ago off a private seller and have noticed that the temperature gauge fluctuates slightly. At times it seems to go slightly above half way and then returns back below again. Can someone please tell me if this is normal? I’ve only ever had a car where the temperature gauge fixes just below halfway and doesn’t move once it’s up to temperature but I’m hoping the Alphard may be different and that I don’t already have a problem with it! Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

Hello Dave,

Welcome to the Forum.

I haven't noticed the same on mine.

- Does it fluctuate while idling?

- Is your coolant level OK?

- Does the needle move so quickly that you can see it move?

Hi. Thanks for the reply. It turns out it did have a leak in the radiator and needed a new one. Not ideal given we’d just bought it but at least it’s sorted now!

Was it a private purchase ?

Many thanks for letting us know what the solution was.

Yes. It was a private seller who is taking no responsibility for it, despite the issue coming to light the day after we bought it. Frustrating but sorted now!
