Under the passenger seat is the IPA (parking assist controller), and on this connector..... You will find both the cameras connect to this connector, front uses pins 23,24,25,26 and the side one uses 15,16,17,16 Now all they are is CV+ (red) and CV- (white) which is the video signal itself. And to make the camera work it needs 6v feed to CB (black wire), and Ground is Ground! In the back of the android head unit there is connector C, with camera input pins for all the cameras, my back up camera is connected currently to C5/C6 and works. So just put the side one to C3/C4 and the front one to C9/C10. Well that's the theory, I'll tell you if it works in a few weeks time when I give it a whirl, but there is little doubt in my mind it'll just work but hopefully the pictures are the right way round etc. Surely you could just splice into the camera wires without cutting them and then the park assist will power them for you. you can get a 4 way camera switching box on ali, reverse activates in reverse as normal, front camera activates when braking and side camera activates when indicating left just left right dissconnected. or just use a 2 way switcher and connect front and side to it and then the feed to aux on the android.

WakeUpIn to WakeUpOut MI+ to MO+ MI- to MO- SLDO to SLDI That should complete the MOST loop. And be careful of the pin numbers as there are some variation on the pinning due to vehicle spec. Notice the *'s on the side of the wiring diagram! I also had a weird situation where the amp went into some sort of silent mode when I was messing about... and I had to plug the original Toyota head unit back in to get the amp back into normal sound output mode. Its worked fine ever since. There is some complex communication going on between the head unit, the TV tuner, the amp and the roof monitor. Far more than just an audio signal as I found there is some packet data broad cast which makes the monitor pop out, and you can drive the whole navigation and G-book stuff via the infra red remote that is only received by the monitors IR sensors. And yes your suggestion on splicing into the camera feeds might be an idea, it depends if the park assist unit keeps them powered up full time. Its a total pig to mess with the park assist module in situ without removing the passenger seat! It can be done with the rear under cover off and the seat slid forwards but its less than ideal. I'm yet to unplug the park assist module and see if I get warning lights etc, just waiting on the adapter lead from my Chinese Aliexpress friends.
dave murrell Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 I must be missing something here because I have seen a video on the tube with a roof unit that played independent of the head unit!!!
threepot Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Yes but it might be in Malaysia or something, on a vehicle that either has no amp or has had an aftermarket amp wired in.

The impression I get is that these after market roof units work independent of the head unit (as shown in video), especially the ones like this with BT for the headphones, all that is required is a 12v supply which I assume is already in the roof.
threepot Posted January 8 Posted January 8 As I said previously, the moment you unplug the original roof monitor the amp under the passenger seat stops working. In that video they still have the original roof monitor in place above the after market one.
Chris.ac Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) Here's an interesting article, using the original microphone instead of the crappy ones that come with aftermarket headunit https://austinnam.blogspot.com/2020/11/toyota-oem-microphone-adapter-for.html?m=1 Edited January 10 by Chris.ac

I've belled out the wires to the Toyota microphone, colours and pins are all correct.... I put a post on here too... Currently my Dad is in hospital so all car tinkering has ground to a halt, but I think using the Toyota factory microphone is the future. 1

I just cut one of the yellow plugs of the USB adaptor lead and soldered two pins to the wires, then heat shrinked it all up. This then just slips into the Toyota factory plug as per the attached pictures. Hi, can you please share with us what is the polarity of the wires?

Kaleem Posted March 1 Posted March 1 (edited) Hi it is very useful information, I have an issue with my roof monitor. I have Toyota Alphard 2009 with dual sunroof 2.4L Petrol it is not 18 Speaker it has only 9 speaker and has amplifier under the front seat, tv tuner and sensor ecu. It does not come with the factory Roof monitor but I need it for my kids to watch some videos, Now I have bought a Genuine roof monitor from wrecker and it was working condition when was removed from the other vehicle. I have installed the roof monitor on my Alphard I cut the roof and luckly the brackets were already present and there were connection point were present near the leftside front door piller on the roof. connect the harness with the point and other end to the monitor as well. Now I put back the genuine head unit to make the screen work but the monitor doesn't work Even there were no Brown GVIF connector present and I installed it too but no luck. I would like to request you if you know what I am missing to make it work pleease let me know? Thanks IMG20240208153631.heic IMG20240208153904.heic Edited March 1 by Kaleem

It does not fit in the new Android and I suspect that is the steering wheel controls, but I wanted to double check with you!
