Another dumb question from me im afraid ๐Ÿ˜•

My Alphard lets out the biggest hiss when I unscrew the petrol cap ?

Im not a new driver, In fact I am a dinosaur . Consequently I have taken countless different vehicles to the petrol station in my lifetime and some do give a little hiss when the cap is removed.

But this Alphard is by far the biggest hisser I have ever encountered.

So my question is -

Has anybody else noticed this ?

Is this normal ?

Or do I have a snake in my tank ? ๐Ÿ

Thanks

Yes thats normal, as the Petrol tank goes under pressure and creates a vacuum when its being used because of the fuel pump and injectors.

The hiss is letting the pressure out.ย  So it's a good sign if there was no hiss every time that would mean you have a leak in the fuel system and air is getting in loosing pressure.

Its a far cry from back in the day when people just stuffed a lump of rag in the hole and drove around like a petrol bomb waiting to happen.๐Ÿ˜ฑ
