johnh Posted August 16 Posted August 16 I am having problems with cutting out after starting. If you keep your foot on the accelerator for about 30 secs once started on slow tick over the engine runs ok. This doesn't happen all the time though. The garage I went to said the fault code said it was The Pre Cat O2 sensor. Anyone have any idea where I can obtain one of these please

Picasso Posted August 16 Posted August 16 john also get your self a fuel injector cleaner one that cleans your cat and fuel system i add a bottle once a month this will clean your fuel system and clean the converter and oxgen sensors
dmassarano Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Hi, I've been reading through threads and hoping I can jump in on this one. I've failed mot on emissions. Garage is saying most likely cat converter but could be the pre cat sensors thst you've linked to here. Do I just ask them to check their computer? I've been looking for new cat converters and can't seem to find any. (Have looked on jap auto spares and partsouq...) will phone toyota tomorrow but assuming a new cat converter is pricey anyway, let alone from dealer! Any helps appreciated, still not sure how much I trust the garage as I'm new to the area!
BigNev Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Hi there! Without actual detailed specifics on what emissions are out of kilter, and just how far out, not that I'd know what it meant in honesty, I would be very tempted to try a fuel system cleaner. I have used "CataClean" in the past, not for an MOT fail though ,and it felt like it made a bit of difference, but of course it could be I just wanted to believe it! Perhaps check reviews of ait and some similar products? Best of luck!
Picasso Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I agree with bignev I have helped a few members on here having same issues with emissions use a bottle of cat cleaner about a quarter tank of petrol and give it a good hard drive it makes a difference I put a bottle in mine every month on a 3.0 v6 and never had a problem with emissions very rare you need a new cat then try a different garage for your mot I had my cats changed because they was stolen when it was having a engine build 6 months ago I paid about £400 each brand new from America and it was quick shipping if you need link let me know . 1
dmassarano Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Ok thanks both. Picasso I had read your advice on that before but had used cat cleaner in a full tank, which I thought was the packet instructions. I'll give that another go though then before shelling out 400! I have the same engine, 2003, could you possibly send link in case I need it? Just trying to get everything back together to be ready for redoing mot! Thanks again, will keep updated
BigNev Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Ah yes, depending on the one you used that could have been correct, but I know the actual "CataClean" brand is put in to a "small" amount of petrol in the tank!
Picasso Posted September 12 Posted September 12 pm me your reg no. with yours being a 2003 i think they may be different to mine as yours a lot earlier tha mine

BigNev Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Maybe others are for a full tank, but not CataClean, its different. Please take a look at it, I've screenshoted one description from ebay. 1
dmassarano Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Ok that makes sense. I'll send it through with that quarter tank then and give it a good blast. Fingers crossed thst blows some filth out of it! Thank you both
