Hi everyone.

I’m looking to hit the yes button on an 02 Alphard, which isn’t fitted with a tow bar. And I want one! Has anyone advice on cost of fitting, or indeed if it’s doable?

A company reasonably local seems to suggest around £700?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Cheers,

Nick

Buchanan on Cambuslang Rd Glasgow/Rutherglen were very professional when I used them for a car tow bar installation. (Some years ago)

campervanco.com In Denny are Alphard converters although recent reports say they’re pricey.

There's  an Indespension in Milngavie, G62 6PS. Price dependent on type of two bar, but prices seem reasonable. They definitely fit Alphards.

Hi, If you look back through the Camper Forum, sometime ago I posted a recommendation for a model of tow bar which I found quite easy to fit to my 2007 Alphard.

Hi, lots on eBay to choose from. Tow Trust  fiited my Gen 2 with a detachable-very neat, though  not sure if they make a Gen 1 bar.

Hi I have a 2003 Alphard which had been converted into a campervan by Wellhhouse Leisure. In 2021 I had a towbar fitted by Watling Engineers of St Albans for £420. They did an excellent job.

Hope this helps.

Check out PCT Towbars they are ISO No.55 approved, they come complete with nuts/bolts etc, if you contact them they will have a list of approved fitters, https://www.pctautomotive.com/towbars

Thank you guys for all your helpful responses🙏🏻

I think we’re going to go for it anyway, see how we get on, and if we’re happy with it, action the tow bar.

Very excited at the prospect. Having had VW’s before, I’m keener on the more car like feel of them, but still not far off the same space.

@Les Welsh This one is a Wellhouse conversion too, and it’s very impressive.

I’ll post once I have more news!

All the best,

Nick

£600-750 is current charge rate by installers make sure you do your homework regarding gross weight when towbar is utilsed plus the tyres heavy duty or not.

Sadly, Watling closed down a year or two ago. I think the only option now for a gen 1 is the PCT towbar mentioned above. Not sure about newer models.
