Gmanworld Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Are there any certificate of conformities out there displaying the exact CO2 emissions on the 2.4 hybrid. My logbook displays the vehicle as just being petrol not hybrid

Jeza Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Yes there are, but it will not change the road tax, likewise very little info will get transferred from the Japanese Type Certificate to the logbook. The log book info all comes from the Europe Type approval regs and as the Japan one is not in the correct format DVLA can not transfer the info. Mine is just a Toyota, I did get the fuel changed to Gas Bi-Fuel and added exhaust emissions. pictures from V5 and CofC

Kash Posted Wednesday at 08:41 AM Posted Wednesday at 08:41 AM This is by far the best explanation I have got with regards to the road tax applying to Alphards and Vellfires (or you can say most Japanese Imports). This is from a DVLA agent I chatted with earlier. Hope this helps others wanting to find out the reasoning. So it basically does not matter whether its a 3L V6 or a 2.4 petrol or 2.4 Petrol Hybrid. Tax is the same for all due to following reasons: Quote As this a Japanese import it would under private ;light goods. To tax as Grad ved, the vehicle must have been registered elsewhere on the basis of EU Approval Certificate. As the vehicle was first registered in Japan, the Certificate of Conformity wouldn’t have been relevant. Therefore it will be registered in the Private Light Goods (PLG) tax class. The Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 (VERA), Schedule 1, Part 1A in states that - Any vehicle first registered after 28 February 2001 but before 1 April 2017 under VERA or under the law of a country or territory that is outside the UK that is registered on the basis of an EU Certificate of Conformity or a UK approval certificate that identifies the vehicle as having been approved as a light passenger vehicle, and specifies a CO2 emissions figure in terms of grams per kilometre driven must be taxed based on its CO2. For a vehicle to be licensed in a Grad ved tax class, the Grad ved data, CO2’s, Type Approval Number, Euro Status etc must be captured on the foreign registration certificate, if not, the vehicle defaults to the PLG tax class. To find out the current exact rates, you can go to this URL and find out: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/other-vehicle-tax-rates Still don't know why would the govt charge same for a normal and Hybrid vehicle. Just a way to make more money I guess.
BigNev Posted Wednesday at 06:35 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:35 PM Cracking! An excellent, clear, if somewhat unfair for Hybrid owners, explanation! But it's good for us 3.0 and 3.5 owners I suppose!
