Morning.

Any idea what this box is connected between the battery terminals ?

The light comes on when button is pressed.

Thanks for any info.

Hi,

Is your Alphard a camper conversion,if so it could be for charging the leisure battery. Perhaps someone will confirm this.

That looks to be a home-made contraption. You could undo the screws on the back and take a picture of the insides, that might give a clue. Does the button lock down or does it just pop back - if the latter I would suggest it is used to check that the battery has enough charge - 12v and it lights up, less than that it doesn't.

Thanks for replys. It's not a camper.

The button pops back up so yes it's probably a battery check.

Tnx again.

Could be a load to test the battery.

Better to get it tested professionally and replaced if needed.

where does the cables terminate too ?

They just go to the battery terminals.  One to each side.

looks to me that this could be a device that basicilly stops the ignition being turned on to stop theft of your vehicle ?

I think this was ET's latest attempt to phone home.

Open the box and take a photo and we can stop the guess work 😀.

My hands don't work properly but I'll get someone to open it in a few days.

But wired straight across the battery ? I hope not.

In series with one connection, perhaps, but there are mush better, and safer, ways and devices exactly for that purpose.

I  suppose one idea would be to disconnect the whole"unit"and see if every thing still works. If every thing is still OK, I would take it off the battery and put in your shed!!!

It could be a very, very, crude voltmeter.

Unless a battery is under some load voltmeters are of very limited use as they will read high when not supplying current.

And having it on a momentary switch would be pointless.
