Mist7887 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Hi, Â The Vellfire we have coming over, comes with a Panasonic navi nsdn-w60. I've looked at a couple of head unit places including eonon, and they seem to suggest I'd need a custom harness. Â Has anybody changed one of these radios, what unit did you replace it with, and what did you have to do with the wiring please? Â Thanks
Voodoo101 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 You can buy any double din unit, all will need a custom harness. Some head units are supplied with a harness to fit. Â There are other makes of Android head units, Eonon is on the cheaper end and lack a bit of functionality. I have one and not the best I have had. My first one packed in and took out the alternator. The second one has some funny way, like bluetooth dropping out quite a lot, sometimes for a long time. You can't easily switch between phones, you have to actually turn off bluetooth on one phone to disconnect it. Its annoying that it opens up on any app you have used on your last trip, so if you happen to go on play store or file manager, you end up with that open on the next trip. You have to manually close apps. It also needs to be reset often. Ive had better from AliExpress for half the price. Â If you go for Android, you can get a wiring harness off AliExpress

They come with the correct wiring loom and surround. Warning though, I bought one from there and it lasted a month, plus the surround does not come with the little coin compartment section, so you have to change over that and the plastic trim surround is a different shade of grey and it stands out.  The 20 series are all the same I think except if you have the premium speaker system, so you can just order the lead from AliExpress and it will be plug and play. Three leads from the car and then one in the back of the unit. If you have the oem fitted rear camera you can get the adaptor for that off ebay.  I bought the 2din unit with the floating head. The reason for that is 1. I found the one that fits in the trim a bit too far away to use when driving. 2. The floating head unit you can angle to stop the sun shining on the screen. 3. You can set it up so you have the perfect view when driving, but it swivels for the passenger if they need to use it. You do need a double din surround

BigNev Posted December 13 Posted December 13 Hi guys! I don't suppose you know if that unit works with the 18 speaker theatre system by any chance? I know its apparently a major complication for compatibility, but as the car will hopefully be a long term ownership I'm quite happy to invest a few quid in something good. Only had our Vellfire a couple of weeks, loving it so far, managed to get radio and cd playing easily, contemplating learning Japanese to use all those features that are on it!! Due to the age of my daughters we're not too bothered about the roof display. Do want to keep that original rear view camera with the steering guide lines, I've not had anything like it before and really like it!
opelrsx Posted December 13 Posted December 13 If you are talking about the unit I posted, yes, 18 speakers works so and factory amp. Steering control works. For 08/09 model year with 270 camera, only reverse camera works. For 10+ model year that has 360 camera, all camera works. However, picture quality isn't very good with factory cameras, managable but not near HD quality. In terms of installation, plug and play. I've had it installed for about half a year, very happy with it.Â

opelrsx Posted December 13 Posted December 13 You can get it on Aliexpress, serach series 20 alphard andriod headunit, plenty avaiable.Â
BigNev Posted December 13 Posted December 13 That's absolutely brilliant mate! Thank you!! I only have the rear camera, 2010 model, I'm a poor relation on that one! I'll have a look tonight for that! By any wondrous chance can you remember the manufacturer? You've not still got the box have you??😃
opelrsx Posted December 13 Posted December 13 No manufacturer info, I believe they (the model I posted) are all made by one company, just different retailers.Â
