Lucho Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Hello, I am a bit confused and would like to ask for advice. Looks like my Alphard 3.0 AWD 2006 have stopped shifting to 5th gear. There is no special event that have lead to that. I just saw that the RPMs are unusually high say 3300rpm at 70mph. Then I made a small experiment driving with 70mph and puting the gear stick to D and then to 4. There was no change in the RPM whatsoever which looks like 5th gear is not engaged even in high RPM. I went to a garage and they detected an error "P0793 Intermediate Shaft Speed Senson 'A' Circuit No Signal" But they said they are not very familiar with Alphard being Japanese Import and cannot help much. Do you think 3300rpm at 70mph is normal and how to approach the problem? Thanks in advance! Lucho
MonsterS Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Don't put it in to 4, just leave it in D. As for the Shaft speed sensor looks like it needs changing. I take it from the year it's a RX/RS 300 Engine. Which if you tell them its a lexus RX/RS300 engine they should know. I Believe it's easy to change that sensor as it's on the rear side of the gearbox, but never actually changed one. 1
Lucho Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Thanks for the advice! I will keep it at D for sure just shifted to 4 to see if the rpm will go down. Looks like these wil fit: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175359928639 . I will double check with the seller!
pcous Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Hi Lucho, From memory, I think our Alphard does just over 2500rpm in 5th gear at 70mph, so 3300rpm sounds like it may well be still in 4th gear
