Hey guys I’m not sure if this is a common issue with the alphards but I need some guidance before I shell out a ton on diagnostics, the front fans on the radiation seem to power up once I have taken the key out and has now killed my battery, I have spoken to a few different people one says it’s a cylinder head one has said head gasket and the other said thermostats? Any guidance is much appreciated it’s 2007 hybrid 2.4, bad time for this as we are in the middle of a house move 🤦🏻‍♂️

Damn, I would say it's a short. as fans normally run for around 30 seconds, but no more. I would say check the wiring, sometimes the fan wiring rubs and shorts out. If not plug in Toyota Techstream and have a look.

Possibly a faulty relay not switching off. Good luck.

Hi on front of radiator cowling there is a replay I know there is one on my 3.0 if you pm me your reg no. I will have a look send you drawing and part no. Where located 

Are they perhaps running all the time & you just notice when you turn off & get out? looks like temp sensor fault or wiring short as someone has said then.

After you have switched off the ignition, for how long do the fans run ?

Indefinitely, until they run down your battery ? Or for what period ?

 

IF the engine is overheating, you should expect the fans to keep running until the unit is cooler.

Obviously you would need to discover why it is overheating.

 

Is it using water ? Steam from the exhaust after the engine is warmed up ?

Is the inside of the oil cap emulsified ?
