JBNorfolk Posted March 4 Posted March 4 (edited) I'm considering buying a new Alphard or Vellfire, I used to own a 3.0 ANH10, are the newer ones quieter at motorway speeds than the older ones, i.e. lower engine revs at speed/ better insulation? The old 4 speed box seemed quite short geared for UK motorways (in D to the left!) I'm used to 6 speed autos that do 1800rpm at 70mph. Edited March 4 by JBNorfolk

The more gears there are the lower the rpm on motorways, etc. Hence the fours can be relative noisy and thirsty.
Gamith Posted March 4 Posted March 4 There are, of course, other considerations, the newer ones don't look to have rotatable middle seats, and fewer of them - depending on model, but they have more toys. Newer vehicles will _tend_ to be in better condition and have fewer miles (KMs) on them. Newer ones are likely to have easier access to spares etc. but that is rather subjective in any case. But it's all dependant on your personal views.
JBNorfolk Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 Has anyone compared the interior noise to similar vehicles - Elgrand/V350/Caravelle 3.2?

Sound, and particularly noise, is a subjective thing; different people will hear the same sound differently. Especially with increasing age. The only reliable method would be a sound meter used in the differing vehicles, at the same speed, across the same terrain, driven in exactly the same way. Or a rolling road scenario. I think your attention should be directed towards other attributes / differences.
JBNorfolk Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 I've seen this on an eBay auction, it's been relisted once already, what do you reckon? 2010 Alphard

JBNorfolk Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 (edited) Yes, lots of advisories have been ignored from one year to the next, if the owner wasn't concerned about the brakes, they wouldn't be concerned about much else, it's cheap for a reason! Supposedly serviced, but still with brake advisories on the mot! Edited March 6 by JBNorfolk
