Fred Johnson Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Hi My 10 Series came with an old aftermarket Android Head Unit which I'm swapping out. All going fairly well. As the existing unit already has the GPS and USB cables run, I'm hoping to leave them in place saving me from having to remove much of the dash (fingers crossed). I did notice that this wire seems to have come loose from it's connector; but I can't be sure. Can anyone help me confirm if this is the case? Also, with the old unit, the steering controls weren't working. Any info on what should be connected to get them to work would be most appreciated 🙏
Gamith Posted March 5 Posted March 5 It's hard to tell from the picture with the red cable but I assume it would go into the block you are holding - is it 'live' all the time, when the key gets turned or never? A picture of the end of the block to show the connection layout may help.

I took this pic of the back of the block; it splits into the red wire which goes into a harness into the dash and the blue which connects to an RCA connector. I apologise upfront for my ignorance into what all of these are for. I'm trying to figure it all out 😁

Always worth having one in the domestic tool kit. 1
Gamith Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I suspect your toolkit will expand somewhat with Alphard ownership 🙂 - one of the items I have found really useful is a set of trim removers - small plastic levers that you use to remove trim, very useful for saving wear and tear on paint and the like. As for your supposed ignorance, don't worry about it, we are all in the same boat to one degree or another. 1
Dick Powell Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Those red & blue cables do not look like original Toyota wiring! Probably part of the 1st head unit changeover. 1
