Hi This light has started coming on all the time. I've checked all the lights and they seem OK. I also checked for fault codes and it didn't find any.

Any idea what is causing it and how I sort it?

Thanks

John

Headlight auto levelling light.

Have you had your rear bushes changed recently ?

Have you changed the wheel tyre combinations recently ?

I assume you have HID lighting.

Do your headlights adjust upwards when you first start the car in the dark ?

You may have a ballast resistor failure.

Hi thank you for the reply I have changed all four tyres recently. I will see what it does in the dark.

Did you replace your tyres like for like in size ?

I think they are the same size. I checked in the dark tonight and the lights did seem to go up and down when I started it up. Never knew it did that 😉 I don't think it has been driven in the dark since I had the tyres replaced. I will check on Thursday if light on the dash still on.

Thanks

Hi John,

I am interested in how your investigations turn out.  Our Alphard Hybrid has just had 4 new tyres fitted and the Headlight auto levelling light has come on.

I didn't even know that headlight auto levelling was a thing - our everyday car (Honda Jazz) has a little control to adjust main beam high manually.

Our Alphard "support", CampervanCo Scotland have gone into liquidation so we don't have anyone to go to locally to ask about such things.

Were the tyres fitted before or after the MOT ?

Hi Guys, do we know why the "Headlight auto levelling light" comes on and what to do to fix it?

Hi have you checked the rear level sensor it self as there is a link bar that comes of it and attached to rear axle this some times snaps or sensor could be faulty

Thanks for the rapid reply.

I didn't even know we had such a sensor before the recent forum post.

So where do I actually look and what does it look like?

Or is there a web link to this I can use to save bothering you?

Regards,

Peter D.

BTW we have just had four new tyres fitted.

Hi Guys,

I've found the sensor behind the rear drivers side wheel.

Problem is broken link from sensor to suspension bar.

Anyone know the correct part number for a replacement.

I assume it is easy to fit with spanner, socket set, etc!

For these sorts of questions I would look at amayama.com, chose the correct vehicle and then get the part number, you may need to look around a bit.

If you hover your mouse over a part it will show you the options under that - year and colour for instance.

Once you have found the part number you can check the usual sources to see whether anyone in the UK is selling one or you can order one from amayama - which I find to be quite reasonable, though the shipping times will be long.

Equally if you already know the part number you can search for it.

For instance if it's part 89407-58010 that you are after it would be 20 Ukp from Amayama while ebay has one for over 500Ukp (https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw="89407-58010"&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_odkw=89407-58010&_osacat=0) while Amazon has one for just under 100Ukp (https://www.amazon.co.uk/JUNMO-AUTO-Height-sensor-89407-58010-8940758010/dp/B0DLW1554P)

Hi I've been away so hence delay in replying. My light has now gone out??? So assuminmg due to change of tyres does something eventually adjust itself and sorts itself out?

Cheers

John,

We looked behind the rear driver side wheel and found that the link rod between the suspension  and the levelling sensor was broken.

So now we have to find a replacement link or maybe the whole assembly.

I guess markup is down to having uk stock and not having to wait to receive from china if you have a mot failed you will pay it nothing wrong in making money on a product if your able to supply it

That is a fair point, but for another £5 there are UK sellers getting it to you in 2-3 days.

I think over a 100% markup over other sellers retail price is more than just making money, but people have choices so it is up to them is they think the convenience is worth another £55 on top.
