Just got an Alphard Royal Lounge import (brilliantly convIMG_8078.thumb.jpeg.050ab2868426efe36df4503422c18686.jpegerted by NewAcre Leisure) and as my Japanese is not good, I’m trying to register the car in our Toyota app _and_ trying to set up ApplePlay (or similar) on the console.

Hello Ian and Mel,

Are you sure you have the correct vehicle in your profile ?

I think you may have a later model.

I know that we don’t - sadly the Alphard hybrid is not on the list

I changed it for you. Hopefully now it is correct !

It is important to have it correct, otherwise you will not receive the help you may need.

Where do we find the VIN?
The one we got in the registration is 3 characters short for the MyToyota iPhone app

As far as i know (and I could well be wrong here) there isn't a VIN number as such, look for the frame number, the easy way is to find a sticker on the passenger side door frame. The number will be something like 'ANH10-1234567'. That is what is used on my V5 (well not that exact one but you know what I mean).

This can also be found on the CarVX report as the Chassis number.

It should be repeated in another location that is more difficult to get to, so that people can't remove or alter it. I think it might be under a panel in front of the drivers seat but I can't recall where I saw that. Ah here is a video -

Thanks

The app I'm talking about is MyToyota:
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/mytoyota/id1617623127
or
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.toyota.oneapp.eu

And when asked to add a car, the only VIN I could find (similar to your suggestion) was "too short" - it's expecting 14 characters?
Could this be due to it not recognising a VIN for an import?

We have our Corolla registered - the VIN is (similar to): SBnKnnBEXnEnnnnnn (the"n" denotes a number)
But I cannot for the life of me get the Alphard registered?
The registration is certainly valid for the number plate, but it is not recognised on the app and I cannot find the VIN for it ...again, perhaps cos it's an import?

My VIN is on the nearside B pillar.

It features the model number and serial number, as Paul notes above.

I have installed the app and tried my license plate (which isn't recognised) and frame number and neither work.

There is also an option for a QR code that is supposed to appear on the multimedia screen. Given the above I am going to assume that this is not going to work for imported vehicles, or ones that are manufactured before a certain date.

I don't know if putting in the original Japanese license plate would make a difference, and I can't find out what that was in any case so I am going to give up and uninstall the app.

That app does not work on the 20 series Alphard, the system is not Toyota2 as used in euro spec vehicles.

I have received a reply from Toyota about the MyToyota app:

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Thank you for your email.

You will only be able to add UK Toyota vehicles to the UK My Toyota account, you will unfortunately be unable to add a imported Japanese vehicle.

I am sorry for any disappointment this may cause you.

Thank you for contacting Toyota GB.

Kind regards
