MonsterS Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Hi All, So my headlight lenses are shot, i spent an hour trying to sand down again but they still look the same. Anyone replaced their lenses at sll. Ive seen on aliexpress people selling replacement lenses but wonder if they are any good. Whats your thoughts?

However, I do another two vehicles every year, and it takes a lot of effort. I use Turtle Wax Headlight Lens Repair and Renew. Works great but is time consuming. Good luck whichever approach you take.
Markb59 Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I've recently changed the lenses on my alphard. I purchased them off Temu. They took a little while to get over here, but we're well packed and look great now I've fitted them. Changing them was a little difficult due to the sealer used. A heat gun to soften it and a gentle leverage was needed. I'll get some photos of them.if you like and I could send you a link from were I got them.

Acquiring dry ice could be somewhat difficult. Transporting it even more so. It is very dangerous 'material', with all sorts of Health and Safety issues. I have used it in industry, not a easy task. Needs very good PPE. Applying it could be a nightmare, and could, maybe, just shatter the lenses.

MonsterS Posted Tuesday at 10:44 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 10:44 AM Okay, so i've managed to clean it right up, but it took about an hour for just one. 1. mask off all paint work 2. get the following grit sand papers on a drill 250, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 1800, 2000, 2500, 3000 3. work with each one going one way and then the next one the other. (keep it wet) 4. then use polish to buff the head light and finally clear UV paint spray to clear coat it. They turned out like new. Took some elbow grease and some time.

It is worth all the effort once done. At one time, I was trying to consider how to make some removeable covers for mine, but didn't pursue it.

Jeza Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago You can get clear UV self adhesive protection film to apply after cleaning, It is a bit of a pig to apply due to the double curvature of the cover, heat gun required to stretch it where required. Protects from stone chips and fine erosion as well and lasted four years, I think I got it from Amazon.
MonsterS Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago That sounds amazing, However I don't have the skills, i've tried to tint windows before (flat surface) and end up with a ton of mess from it. I do like the film, maybe post the link if you can that would be fantastic.
