Voodoo101 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago My trusty 16 year old 230,000 mile Vellfire has developed a little fault today with the rear camera. Its been working fine, but today it flashed bright and then went really dark. You can still see the picture but its like when a TV backlight has gone. Has anybody has this before, is it fixable or is it a replacement part. Im assuming its fitted to more then just the Alphard / Vellfire. If so then it should be available from a scrappy or even Toyota. Anyone have any fixes before I go an buy a new one?
Gamith Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Assuming that the head unit itself is behaving itself I would say it's safe to assume it's the camera, you could try unplugging it from the head unit and plugging it back in to see if that makes a difference, but to start planning to replace it. Check Amayama.com to get the correct part number and description and see whether you can get the same part elsewhere. For mine it's a 'CAMERA ASSY, TELEVISION (8679058011)' and would cost 400 Ukp, but looking on ebay I can get a used part for under 100 Ukp. I would recommend taking a look at the current camera (i.e. take the lining of the boot lid off and check the connections there) - it's always possible that something has moved and you can take the opportunity to check the connectors are what you expect.
