ljstevens363 Posted Monday at 05:37 AM Posted Monday at 05:37 AM Hi guys new here. I purchased a 2006 Alphard 2.4 petrol (non hybrid) 2 days ago and had it breakdown on me 30 miles from where I collected it. Currently cranks but won't start. Has fuel and spark and now at a point I don't know what to try. My breakdown cover won't cover me as its a new policy and recovery is £800 +. Currently sat in Leicester 167 miles from home with no way of getting anywhere and now my battery is completely flat. If anyone is in the Leicester area and is a bit more clued up that wouldn't mind taking a look I would much appreciate it as I'm at a point where I have no more money to put into it until next week and literally have no clue what to do after being stuck in it for 3 days now. If anyone has any ideas would be much appreciated

If a business, contact them immediately. What else can you do ? So it was cranking before the ran battery down ? Was it a normal fast crank, or somewhat sluggish ? It's unlikely to help, but have you tried to use jump leads ? On many Alphies, even a low battery will prevent the van cranking. I'll see what I can do to help; but probably nothing. If you can, please send me your phone, registration and exact location by Private Message.
ljstevens363 Posted Monday at 08:05 AM Author Posted Monday at 08:05 AM Hi Rojie, thanks for your response Brought it privately and seller has blocked me completely and close the account it was being advertised on. It was running great the pulled up for a quick loo break and upon return just cranks over doesn't fully start. The battery was brand new on when I brought the car now I've been trying to get it going I've drained the battery completely. I now have a recovery guy collecting me for a very reasonable price. I've had people trying jump me but nothing has happened. Once I've got the old bus home I'm planning on stripping her down testing compression ect
Gamith Posted Monday at 10:56 AM Posted Monday at 10:56 AM (edited) Hmm i would suspect the alternator doesn't work (which could just be a fuse, but considering the age could be a range of things from a bad earth connection, loose belt, worn out commutators or something else entirely) and the seller knew that and replaced it just to sell it. If you can get an auto-electrician to come out for a diagnosis that would be an excellent first step. A zero / one star review would be the very first step 🙂 Edited Monday at 10:58 AM by Gamith
ljstevens363 Posted Monday at 11:02 AM Author Posted Monday at 11:02 AM Hi Gamith, Surely if it was an alternator it would have jump started but literally just cranks and that's it.
Picasso Posted Monday at 11:20 AM Posted Monday at 11:20 AM I guess you still got rights even buying privately take advice
