Roof bars - advice please

Such a tin or worms - am seeing 'Jap import bars' for £300 plus  but pretty sure any roof bar with a 'NO GUTTER' solution will work. 

Anyone here done the leg work with a Thule solution ? I'm not looking for a cheap solution but don't want to spend silly money for a camping trip twice a year.

Thule used to do foot packs for the Alphard, but discontinued about 10 years ago, hence the jap import route. 

 

You can buy just the foot and fitting packs and use the bars bought here, maybe second hand.

 

The long bars is what drives the shipping costs up, due to fees related to size of package.
