Hi all

is there a safe way to remove the chrome trim strip that covers the reverse camera?

i want to get the camera off as im trying to get it to work with a pioneer head unit and want to eliminate as many variables as possible, and am paranoid about breaking the trim!

it seems like standard trim clips are holding it, but it takes quite a bit of force and still wont pop off, is it safe to just yank it off?

The chrome trim is held in place by the light clusters plus trim clips. You have to remove the trim panel inside the door, you then have access to the nuts that hold the lights on, once they are off the chrome trim is easy to get off. The original reversing camera is 6volt so you will need to get a converter unit, available on eBay, plus you will have to locate the correct wire at the head unit loom to trigger it. When I fitted my Pioneer AVEC unit, I found the easiest way was to fit a wifi transmitter unit in the tailgate connected to a new 12v camera, both powered from the reversing lights, then the wifi receiver unit in the centre console below the head unit. e.g. wifi transmitter/receiver unit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/187285465898

Thanks guys

i bought a converter from incartec but its for a different plug type (4 pin) my original head unit uses a black 10 pin connector with 8 wires fitted

i cant figure out a combo that will work with the 4 wire input so want to remove the camera and cut out the loom just to confirm the camera will work at all with the pioneer. Under the tailgate panel the camera uses the same 4 pin plug that the incartec kit came with so i feel hopeful

if that all fails ill buy a new camera and hopefully fit it in place of the stock one
