Ionut Posted Friday at 09:56 PM Posted Friday at 09:56 PM (edited) Hi all, anyone have experience changing this pump? i have a major coolant leak and i tracked it down to this unit however it does seem like a hard one to access and change. Once this fixed I m planning a trip to Italy in my new Alphard…not sure how this fantastic car has been kept a secret. Thank you Edited Friday at 09:57 PM by Ionut
Picasso Posted Saturday at 05:19 AM Posted Saturday at 05:19 AM Hello welcome I would personally be not replacing the pump with a 2nd hand part
Ionut Posted Saturday at 05:40 AM Author Posted Saturday at 05:40 AM Thank for the reply Picasso. I would buy new if i could find one… i sent enquiries to a lot of companies to find one but no luck. From some searches, easiest way is to remove the windscreen scuttle shield and wiper arms and work through the top.
BigNev Posted Saturday at 09:19 PM Posted Saturday at 09:19 PM (edited) Hi there! That is the inverter pump for a Hybrid. Do you have the Hybrid model? Your info says you have the standard petrol, so that pump obviously won't fit. No matter how hard you try! And this is the wrong section of the forum for a Hybrid.... Cheers, Nev Edited Saturday at 09:19 PM by BigNev 1
Picasso Posted Sunday at 11:35 AM Posted Sunday at 11:35 AM Well spotted Neville his profile wrong as well if he has hybrid won’t get the correct help 1
Ionut Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago Ohh… been on this planet for 37 years and forums still pose a challenge for me. I have a hybrid…it’s the auxiliary coolant pump.. managed to change it today. Had to remove the inverter to get to it but it’s done now. No more coolant leak. I will change the details on my account. Appreciate the reply. 2
BigNev Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) Hi Ionut! Nice work there! Apparently it's similar steps to change the rear plugs on mine,. Initially seems like it's a hassle to take the scuttle off, but if it's like our previous one, Grand Voyager V6, the job's not going to happen if you don't!! Cheers, Nev Edited 12 hours ago by BigNev

Cheers, Nev The video i found was of a guy changing his aux water pump on a prius+,he removed the scuttle panel to do it. When i looked in my engine bay and imagined what access I would have without the scuttle panel, the answer was bugger all. Little bit mortified to work around the Hybrid system with no safety training but followed common sense and came out alive. I will be honest…this car is so cool I dont mind learning how to fix it.
