MAF and Throttle Body cleaning advice

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, had my alphard in as it was juddering over 45mph and under 10mph, idling bad. Stalled a couple of times. Mechanics fitted new Lambada, pressure tested and ran catclean as he said there was a bit of sludge on catalytic convertor. Sadly this hasn't solved the problem. Someone online recommends a clean of the MAF sensor and the throttle plate. My air intake box in ontop of the engine, MAF sensor behind. Im struggling to get to it and the clip is tricky to get out. Looking for advice on cleaning both parts.

Cheers

There is a guide here: https://uk.alphardclub.com/forums/topic/8-guide-cleaning-maf-sensor/#comment-9 and yes it's tricky to get to - you will need a short cross-head screwdriver to undo the two screws.

One piece of advice is to use a magnetised screwdriver, and maybe put a cloth under the car, as you really don't want to lose either of the screws.

Got to the MAF and cleaned it but sadly Throttle body was tucked in tight with the fitting facing away so its away to the garage. Thanks for the advice
