Image of car flashing red

Featured Replies

Why does my dashboard display an image of a car keep flashing red on my 2002 Alphard after the engine is turned off? The flashing car image goes when car is running? I have 2 Alphards and have never seen this on my other.

The immobiliser circuit draws current from the battery when it is in disabled mode.

After some time with the ignition off, the immobiliser will be enabled, this cuts power to the ignition circuit and reduces current draw.

You will usually hear relays powering off (clicking) of you remove key and wait a few minutes, this is filtered by the red car symbol starting to flash

It’s the immobiliser. It goes out as soon as you insert the key 👍

Ok thanks' I'm wondering though why its only started flashing now after 10 years of ownership? I have 2 Alphards a 2002 and 2004 and this doesn't happen on my 2002 model? I mistakenly put 2002 on my initial post when it should have been the 2004 showing the red car flashing.
