  1. Thanks for that, it probably is them. Seems strange it cant be turned off when not in use.
  2. Today somebody told me that the cd/radio has a small fan. Perhaps this is what I am hearing ? Very odd
  3. I previously had LPG on a auto range rover mk1 and it doubled my mileage, or to put another way, it cut my fuel cost by 50%
  4. Actually I have to take that back, I just did some maths and I am shocked - I appear to be getting 22mpg town driving
  5. iv got a 2007 2.4 and i am getting much better than 20mpg 😕
  6. Don't know if this is of any use - I took a seat out and found there was already plenty of insulation under the carpets.
  7. I think we are all being left to sit and spin, or swivel on that question 😵 see this previous thread - https://uk.alphardclub.com/forums/topic/757-swivel-chair-for-alphard/
  8. Perhaps this is another stupid question from me . Whenever my ignition is turned on I can hear what sounds like a small fan running, even if the engine is not running. It comes on before the engine starts and turns itself off about 5 seconds after the key is removed from the ignition It is not as loud as the fan that I hear when operating the heater of cold air blower . I don't know what it is or how to turn it off. Any ideas ? thanks
  9. Adrian Flux used to be good. But what has happened to them these days ? they caused me loads of problems last time I used them, & they seem to have turned into bread head rip off merchants 😞 sad to see a good company go down the drain. And now they are claiming to be specialist in Alphard insurance. They are a joke 😞
  10. I went to my main dealer yesterday “ Hills of Woodford” to buy a touch up pen for stone chips. While I was there I asked how much for a service, just out of interest. I was surprised to be told my main dealer wont touch my Alphard because its a Japanese import . 😮 They explained that if its in their work shop and it need a part, they can have lots of trouble getting the parts . They are not prepared to risk it sitting in their garage for months waiting for a parts.
  11. Toyota garage will be very very expensive.
  12. Well thank you. it is good to know its normal. Its a far cry from back in the day when people just stuffed a lump of rag in the hole and drove around like a petrol bomb waiting to happen.😱
  13. Another dumb question from me im afraid 😕 My Alphard lets out the biggest hiss when I unscrew the petrol cap ? Im not a new driver, In fact I am a dinosaur . Consequently I have taken countless different vehicles to the petrol station in my lifetime and some do give a little hiss when the cap is removed. But this Alphard is by far the biggest hisser I have ever encountered. So my question is - Has anybody else noticed this ? Is this normal ? Or do I have a snake in my tank ? 🐍 Thanks
  14. I have one yellow headlight, I have tried several of the things suggested here, And shop bought potions. I can not make any improvement in mine 😞 I cant help but wonder if sometimes the yellow is on the inside.
  15. I took a spin up and down the motorway today at 70 to 75mph and rev counter didn't even get to 3000 🙂 Iv owned the van for over 2 months and it seems iv never got out of 3rd gear . Doh Doh Doh! How embarrassing. 😡 I am such a comped idiot ! Also I am probably lucky not to have damaged it, I recently did a 450 mile round trip from Essex to Devon and back, Mostly on the motorway in 3rd at 4000 plus revs. I thought i used a lot of petrol that day 🤥 Catweazle you are right – I do have a green D on my dashboard. I saw it today for the first time. And Nov, I don't only owe you a drink, I owe you a really really big drink. THANK YOU. Now I feel like I should win a prize for the most stupid question on the forum. hahaha I dont know how I can better this ? How about - Iv noticed that when I put the gear selector in L for turning left it works ok, but when I select R for turning right the van goes backwards? 🤣 Ha ha ha Im not going to live this down am I.
  16. H Nov, I just came back here to post this to you - I am very grateful you took the time to respond to my post. You may be right that I have a missing gear. I took the Alphard out today trying to count gear changes But the gear changes are so very smooth I can hardly notice them. I 'think' it changes twice by the time iv hit 30mph and I don't think it changes again after that. I took it up to 90mph to see if another gear kicked in but it didn't. It was at 5000 revs at 90mph. But I find it hard to believe it can do 90 in 3rd gear. Perhaps I need to consult a mechanic. What do you think ? Thanks But now I have just read your last post and I must say I had no idea that the left and right of the D3 slot makes any difference I think I do always pull it to the right. Ill take another run on the motorway tomorrow and see what happens . Its possible that you may have just saved me a fortune sir . Ill report back again
  17. Oh that is confusing, thanks for the info. This is my first automatic and I thought 3D meant 3 gears 😞 Anyway - I do drive it with 3D selected and that is when the revs seem high. Tomorrow I will take it out and try to count the gear changes and see if it is selecting 4th or if I am stuck in 3rd. Ill report back 🙂
  18. it is a 2.4 auto, it only has 3 gears i think.
  19. My Alphard seems to rev high, At 70 mph on the flat its at 4000 revs. Is this normal ?
  20. Hi OllieB Have you attempted the job yet ? Just wondering 🙂
  21. my son used his smart phone to translate the text and the audio
  22. I just found out what my Japanese text says. Just in case its any use to anybody else
  23. I have an 07 import and my second row swivel, the single and double both do. When I was looking to buy mine I also looked at an 05 with the 2 single seats in the second row and they swivelled. And that's all I know , small help perhaps.
  24. I also want my alphard front passenger seat to swivel Iv seen swivel discs on ebay that can convert a fixed seat into a swivel seat and I fancy having a go. Has anybody here attempted this conversion ? And if so do you have any tips or advice ? thanks
  25. all great info, ill be flowing your lead next year for sure. also Iv just picked up an English owners manual from Amazon, this is a big help.
