Front parking camera & getting IPA working again
Thanks for the confirmation Chris. Honestly I think I'm going down a bit of a rabbit hole with all this sort of auto electric stuff. Ultimately we have a decent CarPlay solution; a high quality HD reversing camera and parking sensors. I've never had more than this on any other car I've owned :). Having said that I'm still going to pull out this Android HU that has been fitted to get an idea of what has been wired up (or not). I've found a few oddities like: Rear corner parking sensors give the opposite side indication on the dash. Probably just plugged into the wrong port in the ECU. The car door notification on the Android HU shows the drivers door open when I put the car in reverse (?!). I've had to turn it off. Parker sensor/sonar notification on Android HU does not work when enabled. The door speakers don't seem to work (but the roof speakers; back row speakers and subwoofer do). Anyway, this is taking this thread off-topic. My takeaway is: Cannot mix and match aftermarket and OEM cameras as part of original OEM IPA. For a 360 setup, better to go fully aftermarket due to improvements in camera technology. OEM front camera is available but is £500+ and probably not a great image. Thanks again, Arron.

Front parking camera & getting IPA working again
Thanks both. I've finally found the part number on amayama - thanks for the suggestion. The price is quite eye-watering especially as I have no idea if it'll actually work with the HU I have. I'll have to some more investigation before committing. For future reference: 86790-58090 / 86790-58091 - 2008-2011 86790-58091 - 09.2011 - 10.2011 86790-58130 - 10.2011 -- 2015 My Alphard is built 07.2011 but has a facelift bumper (and grille I guess) which makes things even more difficult. Could have been the reason it was removed in the first place... @Chris.ac you mention aftermarket 360 camera set - I guess this will mean replacing the OEM camera in the wing mirror? Thanks again, Arron.

Front parking camera & getting IPA working again
Hello! Finally took ownership of our 2011 Alphard 350 and loving it so far. That V6 is glorious and the family absolutely love the space. I'm doing a bit of detective work because I feel like I could unlock some more potential in the car. I know for a fact it had the 360/Intelligent Parking Assist option because I have a button for it on the dash. I can also see the ECU under the passenger seat plus a camera under the wing mirror. However, there's a few things preventing it from working: The importer switched out the stock HU with an Android-based solution which is fine because it gives us CarPlay (was on my wife's MUST list). However, this has disabled the intelligent park assist/360 parking. The importer did tell us this would happen. They also replaced the rear camera with a HD version. There's no front camera! There's a hole for it in the grille, but no camera exists. I can see a possible plug for it which has been taped up with electrical tape. The tape isn't fresh, so could have been done a while ago. So for 1, I'm trying to somewhat reverse engineer what the importer has done. I've yet to take out the module they've fitted to see what is plugged in and what isn't. That should give me some clues. I have also reached out to ask them for details on what the HU is, but haven't heard back. I'm not sure they'll want to go into nitty-gritty detail of what they have done/replaced however, but I'll ask anyway. BUT, does anyone know of a good reason why the 360 camera would be disabled when replacing with an Android HU? I'm thinking something like https://audiotechdirect.com/atd-crc-27276-reverse-camera-retention-interface-for-toyota-alphard-ah20-estima-with-gvif/ may be required? Could be that they've taken the rear camera feed all the way to the head unit bypassing the IPA ECU? For 2, I cannot find any pics online or part numbers for a front-facing camera. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks in advance! I'll update this thread as things develop. Ultimately I'd like to be able to get IPA/360 camera working with this aftermarket Android HU even if it means spending a bit of money.

What does this button do?
Awesome, thanks @skippy992 - exactly the info I was after. My importer says that if they replace the Headunit with their typical CarPlay system, I'll loose this functionality, but I'll gain HD reverse camera, HD screen and HD roof monitor. Or they can install CarPlay software and keep the all the rest of the tech as-is. Need to decide if I'd actually use the side/front camera - I can see them being useful but parking isn't exactly as tight as it is in Japan here where I am in the UK!

What does this button do?
Thanks! I’ve seen this manual referenced a few times on this forum. I’ll certainly pick one up once I get the vehicle. And thanks for referring what that button does. I also think it’s some sort of 360 camera option, but I wasn’t aware this was even an option back in 2011. It may all be moot anyway as my importer will be replacing the head unit with a CarPlay system, which I imagine would be incompatible.

What does this button do?
I don’t think so. Parking sensor button is located below this and lights would be on the stalk. Thanks though.

What does this button do?
Hello all. Just put a small deposit down on a 2011 Alphard currently on its way from Japan. I’ve been looking through the photos supplied by the Japanese exporter and noticed this curious button which I’ve not seen on the other Alphards and Vellfires I’ve been looking at. Can anyone enlighten me as to what it does please? Many thanks!
