Stunning 2005 Alphard 2.4 Campervan with Rear Conversion
Torq2u posted a topic in Alphard Buy & Sell
2005 2.4 2WD Facelift Model, V spec, rear conversion. Truly immaculate inside and out; metallic grey over graphite wrap; 5 seats in luxurious unmarked grey Alcantara suede velour; rear conversion in red sparkle and charcoal ash effect; superbly maintained. A brand new 12-month MOT and 2 new tyres as advised. Imported and undersealed by New Acre Cars, and registered 01/11/2020. An export report and Japanese handbook available which show some previous history. A detailed maintenance history is attached. No known faults. The only blemishes: a cracked reversing lens and a scuff on an alloy wheel (photo). We have toured France, Spain, Germany, Austria and East Anglia and love this amazing car which purrs along quietly and smoothly without missing a beat. However, my health is catching up with me such that I feel, reluctantly, my camping days are over. Hence the sale for £10,995 ono · 2.4 litre engine with chain cam (no belts to change) · 110,000 miles · 17” Alloy wheels and good tyres (2 brand new) · Recent oil and filters service · New iridium spark plugs · Adaptive headlights · Big battery · Braided brakes · Brake fluid, transmission fluid & filter, anti-freeze and steering fluids all changed · Air-con recharged · 2 power side doors · Soft-close hatch · Power-folding door mirrors · 4 electric windows · Reversing camera and parking sensors · Remote central locking (2 keys) · Smart door lock/unlock · Headlights professionally polished and anti-UV treated · Limo privacy glass · Black "swirl"-effect interior trim · Sony head unit and roof mounted aerial · Original Alphard mats + extra rubber mats · Rotating centre seats · Dual zone climate control · Ambient lighting in the door pillars · Full curtains and front screen cover · Awning rail (Khyam driveaway awning available if required) Located near Tiverton, Devon, and available now for viewing. (NB a couple of the photos were taken before the wrap) -
Such helpful advice, as ever. What a great site!

Braided brake pipes? Which are on insurer's modifications list -
Best ODB II Scanner for Alphard?

Please excuse my ignorance Lee, but would this gismo diagnose the cause of intermittent AFS light coming on and dipped beam seeming a bit low? -
I'm sure New Acre cars in Evesham supply the tailored foam package, certainly for 8-seaters. You'd have to ask them about 7-seaters.

I loosened the bumper to fit new fog lights. The wheel arch liner pops out easily and other clips and bolts are easy to spot. You should be able to get your hand in to do the fix.

Buying an alphard - advice
Torq2u replied to Kerryn's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Paul at Newacre cars has a good reputation in my experience for supplying good motors and providing support post sale. I'd recommend a visit and chat with Paul. It's worth the drive to Evesham! -
Buying an alphard - advice
Torq2u replied to Kerryn's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
I agree about the door colour. Also one of the (seven??) reversing sensors seems to be in a dimple which could indicate accident damage. Surely not seven sensors across the back bumper? -
Thanks, Jenny. And thanks to my children for contributing some of their inheritance 😉

Inspired by paint jobs seen at Gaydon, I have just had the lower third(ish) wrapped with "Anthracite". Soooo pleased with the result - it really enhances the van IMHO. Cost was £700 and it took 2 days. 5 hours just for the front bumper due to the contours. I checked with insurance (A Flux) and no extra cost to the premium. Got to show it off, please forgive my indulgence! Here are some pics:

folding down seats.
Torq2u replied to philip klein's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Absolutely agree you have to reverse the middle seats. My only gripe is I'd like to fold the backs of the front seats more forwards towards the dash rather than stop in the upright position. So I can recline with a good book (or someone who's read one) before going to sleep! -
I reckon I got over 11km/litre on a recent 2500 mile trip to Austria. Over 32 mpg. Which pleased me. Cataclean and sprayed me MAF before going. 2005 2.4 with rear conversion.
-
Same with me. It seemed to start when a bad-minded bollard hit the rear bumper and tailgate just to the left of the exhaust pipe causing a dent. Coincidence? Mm, I don't think so. I have put the fault code reader on it and nothing shows up. Where is / are the sensor(s) located?

Annual Club Meet - July 2nd 2023 - British Motor Museum
Torq2u replied to Trevor's topic in Alphard & Vellfire Club Events
Yes, thanks from my daughter Lia (ex-teenager) and me for organising the meet. Wasn't sure what Lia would make of it but she enjoyed seeing all the variations and pimping, and even all those awful British cars in the museum!!! -

I'm going to stop at the Southbound Services about 9.30. If I remember correctly we all set off at about 10.00. So I'll either meet folk there or make it a convoy of a single van 😁 -

Are we meeting at North / South Services like last year for the convoy? -
MK1 Face lift 2007 body kits and lights

I now understand I need to fit 55w resistors (no idea how to do that - just wanted a simple, straight LED bulb replacement!) -

I've just fitted a pair of WY21W Amber (585) 7440 (12V-24V) 7* 3030 SMD Canbus LED Bulbs 3000K Car Indicator to the rear of my van (still have normal bulbs in front). The hazards flash at normal speed, but L / R turn indicators are flashing at double speed. Is this correct please?? -
Thanks, Jenny. Will give 'em a call 🙂

Ok. Thanks anyway, Roger.
