  1. I hope you spotted my tongue planted firmly in my cheek!
  2. What a great day! So many Alphards with so many tweaks and pimpings! Fascinating. And such lovely people to talk to. Thank you so much for organising the day. My only gripe was with the motor museum itself. Foreign cars were few and far between. Is that down to Brexit?
  3. Our driveaway awning in excellent clean condition. Size: W300 x L270-330 For fixing heights up to 220cm. No rips or damage. So easy to erect - just 2 hoops and connect to the car by roof rail or straps. Both side windows have ventilation and blinds. The front door can be rolled up or can be used as a canopy with the canopy poles. Complete with groundsheet, bag, figure-of-8 connection, poles and pegs. Packs away neatly. £120 - a bargain price! Can be collected from Tiverton, Devon, or from the meet at Gaydon.
  4. Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere: can we advertise stuff for sale or free? I have some colour 042 paint to give away and a driveaway awning for sale?
  5. The screen / front door blackout works very well and is really good value. I am currently fitting aftermarket curtains that I bought thru ebay - really impressed so far, and £100 cheaper than similar ones advertised on Gumtree.
  6. Well, I've gone for silicone lube. The passenger door was reluctant to move (I park on an uphill slope) and I envisaged all sorts of grief happening to the motor and cables. I use white grease for door and tailgate hinges, careful not to get it everywhere. Yes, it's messy stuff!
  7. Jenny asked about tailgate AND sliding doors. I am interested in what to use to lubricate the doors which could be running more smoothly than they are - and so maybe overloading the motor? I think grease could collect dirt and clog the sliders up. So, silicone spray or WD40? I used silicone spray on my tailgate struts and that cured the squeaking.
  8. Now that's just being silly. Why not just buy another Alphie and park them up end to end with tailgates raised ??
  9. I had a Reimo that fitted under the open hatch of my Peugeot Partner. It was watertight - an elasticated band went round the lip on the car - which is a consideration. Not sure how the one Shawn found fits - it looks like there is no roof to the awning. The German text does NOT tell you much. Actually, looking again at your first suggestion, Shawn, I was right in that it has no roof section. It fits inside the tailgate using press-studs. It is only suitable for hardboard-lined tailgates. I think i'll track down some VWs with my tape measure and do a direct comparison of the dimensions!

  11. I've seen a few on Ebay to fit VW T4, T5 and am trying to compare measurements. This looks very reasonable: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265202094706?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3Dad0dd9770f224ba58d04aa4f0c3df7e3%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D264650198973%26itm%3D265202094706%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv9PairwiseWithPLXWeb&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851&amdata=cksum%3A265202094706ad0dd9770f224ba58d04aa4f0c3df7e3|enc%3AAQAGAAACADLfN0UBnSr%2FuNBQFk00oT1VkraNXq5I1H5gSBxQtknkwXkyjjNvqZOzOVB5jd4AScxmlMO4SlTgO5qha8nCKG3%2BB2HRQBrn8ZYNp%2FMdOBwJvYw42qzXYoNi1G4C2rpBiCFUlTtV6dyIY0V2%2BZPIypRNDnphIEzUNUGD13osUK355Vz5cKYR%2BkWBAYqLvymdC5siV2TtEMCCWb3DOk4Qvv%2F%2FiB8MJBKRZxk5WTZMTbcKnZdjPfbsC6429OaqqLGvEQrXldLrstsaGC0rs8ZzNntEOpXj8gBrbzpaF8imMqMXoTaWfSC1iaefeLoXi5XKsqNLda5kKFxWOD3cC92ZIDagCweZHITipsXC%2BvHglRrZ%2FaObqPV2TIXuY%2B9m0ptWS2vk1hlQt7j265fWIdQSujcJab4vBzLI3FgipT6uicn1HmWkQk4l%2BkgIf6lSJk%2FP2YdVrqPI7NMGcvKQSGv5Mivwoy2b8R%2FzC0LltrFVrwBV%2BwxAizGFpiQNw4cb86rT7phDLEE%2F7mlIAWEgfs9uIWyIEZ1iMzy5tGDGpP%2Bk1%2FJAshhGyDbEJP3ILGCdK7hopTU9Ick3csXcHopvACty9FMKzXzzAF%2FTddkOULjhFO265U%2FH7rcIwEne8da%2BJzFI44h0B%2FLgdp9T1A9lpb11hUj3qaB5odxKtyKmI77jfRsW|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2047675
  12. Looking to get a rear awning - if anyone has one, pls can you let me know brand and model? Thanks
  13. Turns out it was not an ABS fault but the battery is too small. So, a better one is on its way ......
  14. Thanks. Found the socket with the help of my pet octopus and a mirror
  15. 2005 2.4 Alphard My ABS warning light came on (and has stayed on) at the same time as my ASF warning light started flashing. I think I read that the ASF sensor is front driver's side, so can I deduce that it's this ABS sensor that's faulty? Any suggestions much appreciated, including sourcing replacement sensors. ASF = A Superflous Feature??? PS where's the diagnostic connection socket? Thanks
  16. Someone on here mentioned Turtle Wax headlamp cleaner/polish. Wow, it certainly brought my headlamps up a treat, and it's very affordable stuff. Local detailers were going to charge me £25
  17. Which converter are you using? I’m in mid-Devon.
  18. Hi Gordon I live in Devon and am looking for a converter for a rear unit. Any suggestions pls? Graeme
