  1. It's gen 1, 2005 facelift, 8 seats. Sorry, should have said all that!
  2. I'd dearly love to be able to move the front seats forward a tad, or just tilt the backrests a tad further forward to accommodate our mattress when rear seats are folded down (rear conversion). Does anyone know if there's a way to do this please, eg by somehow removing a seat runner stop ?
  3. Just an update: I tested my battery as suggested. All seemed ok. So I put shiny new terminal connections on and the problem has not recurred so far .....
  4. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09N2L2J1G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 £17 for the front pair. Very pleased with them. They work silently!
  5. Could it be related to ABS? Mine was faulty and the AFS light came on flashing. It stopped flashing when ABS was fixed. Just a thought.
  6. Thank you Roger. I understand what you are saying. Looks like time for a shiny new battery! Cheers Graeme
  7. Thank you all for taking the time to respond! I appreciate your comments, though I may not have explained clearly: My "outage" was as if the battery had been disconnected briefly. The clock must have reverted to default 12:00, and I spotted it an hour later when I next used the van. It required me to reset the windows. But it started perfectly, as it has always done, so it was not flat. The battery was tested last year and deemed OK. I use the van almost daily. This is the first time I've ever experienced a complete "outage".
  8. Hi Alex. Not sure re the heritage of the battery, but it looks like a replacement. I've had the van for 18 months with no problems. Strong starting, never gone flat. As for b2b / split charging, whoah - well out of my knowledge zone! See photo though ...
  9. 2005 2.4 with rear conversion and leisure battery This afternoon (16.35) I completed a short journey and noticed that my clock said 1:00 (having been showing the correct time earlier today). Passenger windows would not open from drivers door - so, it was as if I had disconnected the battery (which I hadn't!). I checked the battery terminals which were tight. Never had any battery problems before, always starts easily. This left me mystified, and concerned that I might experience an issue when on our travels in Europe. Grateful for any thoughts / advice ......
  10. Thank you Geralt. If they are indeed the same engine, I am pleased with those specifics (if not ECP's prices!).
  11. OK. My question is about the right replacement plugs for my Alphard. I have a 2005 2.4 with about 90k miles. It has Denso VK20 plugs fitted (can't see any other markings) which are the long-lasting version, but I don't know how long ago. The Denso website still quotes IK20 or VK20 for my motor and I want to replace like-for-like (I understand that IK20s are not long-life). But it seems they have been superceded by a new number and VK20s are not easy to source. Can anyone give a definite spec for either Denso or NGK plugs please? NGK numbering seems a nightmare as the cross-reference for VK20 leads to about a dozen different plugs! Also, do new plugs come ready-gapped at 1.1mm? Thank you 😘
  12. Good advice. I did that partial flush. Seemed to work well judging by the colour of the ATF now.
  13. I ordered from smithandallan.com : 2 x 5 litres Smith & Allan ATF 3309 Synthetic ATF - JWS 3309 Toyota ATF T-1V Aisin Warner, total = £60 According to Lubos' "Cuttothechase" Youtube video, the remainder meets the spec for power steering fluid change. Bonus!
  14. They give a great view of double yellow lines!!
  15. Thanks for that helpful tip, Angela
  16. Thank you for your response, Larry. So, next time I visit my daughter in Worthing ......
  17. Thanks for your response, Roger. Yes, the band expander drove me up the wall (not literally!) so got a Sony unit which has not been the foolproof solution I had hoped.
  18. It's a Sony replacement unit. I'd read on here that a short stalk installed above the front interior light works well.
  19. I am looking for someone in the Exeter(ish) area who can fit a roof aerial to give my DAB+ a better chance. I have a stick-on screen variety at the moment and DAB isn't much cop in these 'ere parts. Also, I'm not convinced about the effectiveness of the FM aerial in the rear windows - I often lose signal momentarily or get interference. So I'm happy to try a roof aerial for both formats. Apologies is this is an incorrect post. Happy to be redirected / have hand slapped.
  20. I would also be interested in the replacement of bulbs in those illuminated switches!
  21. I've had some success with Autoglym screen polish and Invisible glass spray. But I've got some mottling on the rear side windows that I can't seem to shift. Happy to hear others' ideas.
  22. Thanks for your response. Yes, I thought it a bit pricey so will not go that route. I'll stick with the cat's whisker.
  23. Wondering if anyone has had a roof aerial mounted. I am experiencing poor DAB+ reception (a fluctuating 1 or 2 bars at best, and mostly on the FM link), though I understand this part of Devon is particularly poor for DAB. The installer of my Sony head unit recommends a vertical roof aerial but I am reluctant to shell out and possibly waste £230 . Thanks.
