There is another website, which I will need to find that describes what wheel tyre combinations are OK, and which are not.
I'll try and find it for you. It is something that explains the J wheel sizes.
Are you intending to have two sets of tyres on two sets of wheels; or one set of tyres for two sets of wheels ?
i am intending to have 1 set of tyres for two wheels (at the moment) just due to buying a new pair. So my plan is to use the those ones because the wheels are still 16 inch, but im not sure if the tyre will fit

If you are changing away from standard size OEM wheels go to
Willtheyfit.com and play with their wheel and tyre size model.
hey Roger
I did that last night and apparently they will fit on the van. they have the same stud pattern and they are 16s.. so same size, these are going to be my winter alloys. hence why they are smaller
the offset is a millimeter bigger so that was my only worry. and if they would still fit the tyres the oem wheels are wrapped in.
Could you send the link to the 200 quid wheels? are they aftermarket or oem ones??
Many Thanks
-
hey guys, just wondering what the oem wheel size for a mz-g edition is. Is it 16,17??
also what's the bolt pattern size?
and offset
https://www.driftworks.com/japan-racing-jr-wheels-jr3-16x7-et40-5x114-3-white.html
these are the wheels i would like to replace the oem ones with... Would i be able to keep the tyres i already have?
Thanks in advance

yeah i went above the reserve 3 times!!! the guy just keeps cancelling and re listing them. no-one has bid the last couple times due to him relisting them and not reducing the price.
If you go past the reserve you should get them no matter what.. right?
Yeah i have reported him.. he is being very annoying. I keep sending him offers.. he aint budging
-
theres some alloy wheels on ebay that have been up for 2+ months, i keep bidding and winning over the reserve.. but the guy keeps putting them back up!!!
Is this allowed
many thanks in advance

Hi all, does anyone have any idea if the jap previous owners hide the spare key in the vehicles as mine only comes with one. I have bought a spare which needs to be cut and re programed. Any ideas would be great. Thanks all🥰
mine were in the little glove box on the right of the steering wheel
Hows the new van regardless of the keys?

Hi just bought 2004 2.4 petrol Alphard picking it up on Friday, looking forward reading all the tips & tricks.
lovely! make sure to give it a last check around, check the body, paint, underbody, interior, features etc
its a big car so things can be hidden easily
if you find anything the person/dealer was trying to hide, you might be able to get some cash off
good luck!
dont worry, you will not regret it. One of the coolest cars ive had. And i can promise you ive had some cool jdm cars before... but this is next level
Not performance (obviously) but is a completely different ball game to the vw transporters and "luxury" mercedes vans
You have not made the wrong decision
make sure to enjoy it
Look forward to hearing about the car when you get it

Thanks for your reply. So has it that I have just contacted them but was after a recommendation from someone who has one.
Is that 25 on a good day or average of combined town/motorway sorry?
25 is sort of the average for a 2.4, motorway is about 30 and town can be about 20
I get almost 15 daily driving mine :0 i do have a 3L though

Hi Charlie,
I think the G and V are different distribution channels in Japan.
Each offered slightly different vehicles (eightseaterblog.com for details) to differentiate their products.
I think the MZ, MX, MS, AX. AS, etc are the basic trim levels before the many options that can be specified.
yeah the g was sold by toyota toyopet and the v was sold by NETZ. NETZ was the more common place to buy your car from. Mine was from the NETZ osaka dealership
i explained badly last night! thats what i meant, but the V and G do offer different trims, like the v for example has a different carpet to the G. People apparently preferred the V in japan
Interesting isnt it?
i do love the effort the japanese put into these cars
It is hard to find two exactly the same!
-
15 minutes ago, Jenny Smedley said:
It's not an mz as the fog lights on the front are round. It is a V
Yeah the V on the back is the trim version, you have got g or v as options. V is more common.
These are two separate things! the japanese love different trim levels!
For example an mz V is different to an mz G
or an ms V is different to an ms G
You have an MS V
i was confused at first too haha. Couldn't tell the difference when i first heard of alphards
This forum has been mega useful and will deffo help you in your journey
Enjoy your alphard

hmm weird, if you WERE to change the screen, i would deffo just go for a new one with apple car play or android auto, Look up ben hau on facebook, he might be able to help you with your headunit. he is an alphard specialist and changes/sorts out peoples headunits
Hope this helps
-
@Jenny Smedleythis is the one i assume you will need. it says this one has been reset to english? not sure how but it apparently has.. Maybe you can pick up one of these and get that fitted

ahh yours is a toyota alphard ms edition
Youve got many different specs with these cars. Mine is an mz-g edition which means creme interior and leather seats.
Youve also got the mz edition, Axl edition, as edition, alcantara edition, and the hybrid
You also have a badge on the back that will either be a g or v. It is next to the alphard lettering
These two mean they have different trim levels/exterior differences
your system is deffo aftermarket and usually when you press the eject button the screen will fold down showing a cd and mini disc slot. slot the cd in, Then your car will start playing music
You might have had your player moved into the gloveboxes or on the right of you where the buttons are under the steering wheel (if its aftermarket which im 100% sure it is)
Have you tried to press the open button? because that should flip it down. if none of the above work. you have no cd player
you should probably in my opinion try find the original headunit that came with this car, and get that fitted
It means you can keep all original functions and have a dvd player
Good Luck

hey @Jenny Smedley, is yours a mz edition?
If it is, then that means this headunit is aftermarket
Mz alphards only come with two particular headunits 03-05 have a particular one ad 06-08 have a particular one
ill show an image above comparing yours and the normal mz two
I know yours is a facelift model due to the colour of the wood (older ones have the darker wood you can see above ^
The easiest way to tell if your alphard is the mz model is the trim or the "fog lights" on the bottom front of the car.. If they are circular, it is not an mz.. but if they are rectangular then it is!
never seen a unit like this before. Looks similar to the bottom one
Hope this helps
I wouldnt get a new unit fitted at halfords
You will lose reverse cameras and all steering wheel buttons
Good Luck
-
@Rojie Ahhh, yeah ive found some sneaky touch ups too, pretty well done until you get up real close to them
Ive done a couple things to mine to make it a lil bit nicer in terms of condition
Creme carpet is a nightmare to clean though! cant find anything good enough for it
Havent got wheels yet
Won that ebay auction twice but the seller just keeps relisting them
he was first asking for 200
now 450!!
Havent given up yet
Still deciding what i really want, Just cant find any work eurolines!
Deffo not worried about height of the car... Possibly thinking of lowering it???
Mines the 2wd version so not too silly to do, wont be offroading it!
Want it to be a VIP style build so chrome, leather, big wheels and lots of drink in the back!
Yeah that fridge and drink storage would be epic for an mz-g edition!
Might try find an oem one in japan one day
Not really bothered about the leather creases in mine, i quite like it to be honest. Makes the car feel used
Deffo gonna get the bodywork sorted
And get apple car play too!
Good luck with your conversion

Much better now, Charlie.
Also explains why (USS) why your auction rating was lower than you thought it should have been.
As yours was a USS, maybe mine is too. I am certainly very happy with it.
Only discovered a couple of small surprises.
I would buy again from Naeem, but he seems to have moved more upmarket now. No MZG's left.
I'll try and translate your sheet with the Google app, just because I'm nosy!
I am sure I looked it over just before you bought it.
10k miles already ! I have done less than 1000.
My Maple veneered panels finally arrived !
Hope to start my conversion late next week with wood preparation, then machining.
Some parts becoming difficult to get with the increasing popularity of the Alphies.
I have my hob and sink unit, will maybe wait to buy a fridge as I don't need one now until spring.
Build then bedding !
HAPPY MOTORING. Roger
yeah ive been looking on the website. Mostly elgrands... Theres also a royal lounge up there too!
Looks mental
what grade was yours?
Yeah done lots of trips in it, have used it as much as i can
Thanks
Charlie

It is a USS Alphard!
-
-
thanks for all of this.
Yeah i was confused as to why it is a 3/c because i have looked at many 3.5 alphards and this was in better condition than all of those ones
Yes its got a couple scratches and a little dent on the passenger door, but apart from that its mint
It had 60k miles when i got it and is now on 70k (i got it in june!)
i will deffo translate my sheet and send a clearer photo
Thanks
-
hey there guys, i’ve just been looking at my vans auction sheet, and was wondering if anyone could help translate it for me? i cant use google translate one the text that has been hand written, but i want to see the reasonings on why my car is a 3/c
I also found out my car came from a VIP car hire company which is quite cool!
any help would be greatly appreciated

Got our Alphard 2 days ago. Absolutely LOVE it!
Our dealer advised we didn't bother with the Japanese radio but get a new one? Any opinions on this? Mostly we play CDs. The Alphard radio doesn't seem to have one, although there is an 'Open' button.
Also, our other big thing is wanting the swivel seats - is there a good video to show you how it's done? Most videos are so bad you can't see whats's happening, some seem to not use any handles but just twist (quite violently) any help gratefully accepted!
the jap hdd is good, way better than a replacement (more features on og.)
trust me ive tried aftermarket ones. you lose all the original functions
You just have to take the time to learn it
Ill send a link to an apple car play installer place, keeps og headnit and all og features.. but gives you car play on tv channel
Look up ben hau on facebook hes the only one who does it like this
Best swap imo
Hope this helps

oem Mz-g Edition wheel size
in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)

yep got standard wheels and tyres fitted at the moment
I did look at the wheels, and i might buy them for the tyres. (Prefer that alloy style to the mz-g one)
I will prob buy more tyres in January, and i will have the set i have now for spring/summer/autumn (early) and a new set for winter/ early spring
not sure what size tyres they are, just whatever is standard i guess. (Had to get some new ones because the guys at mpv specialist said the tyres were newly fitted and passed an MOT the day before i picked it up) but in reality, they had no tread and where destroyed on the inside.. So i got the garage to fit me a new pair... dont know much about van tyre sizes. always had low profile.. i will check now. All i know is they are van tyres, and i think they are multiseason
