hey guys, ive found a pair of alloys on ebay the exact same as yours @ThuMentaliss
The only issue is that they have been powdercoated and I am wanting a chrome look and these have been turned black.
They were originally black, but I don't think black wheels will look good on my black Alphard
If anyone knows how to remove powdercoating, advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hope to Hear some advice soon

Japan quit Analogue TV slightly before the UK. (2011)
Are you sure Naeem showed you English TV on your van; and not another van you considered.
I ask because my reading on the DVB situation in Japan and the UK is getting VERY deep and VERY heavy !
It seems that Japan (ISDB) and the UK (DVB T2) use different systems (oh what a surprise).
However, I have not established whether they are incompatible or not.
Less than £100 for a DVB T2 tuner is looking more a 'bargain' the more I read.
I do hope you discover your HDD unit is capable of providing UK Digital TV.
We Were gonna get a different van, but we took too long, it was a grade four white 07. same spec except it had apple car play, normal sound system and lower mileage (48k or so) ours is 69k black and has theatre surround, so both had positives and negatives (was also a grade 3)
And yes im 100% sure it was the van we bought because i remember picking it up and Naeem walked me through the car, forgot to explain some things
Also well done on getting your TV on!
just another little quirk that makes the car that bit more luxurious and cool. Everyone who has sat in the back has enjoyed watching spongebob on the screen haha
im not to worried about the whole tv uk channels not working, because i will get apple car play fitted, and you can just watch things on that
Good Luck
I will keep you updated

Well done you for getting the TV to turn on.
After reading the manuals, yet again, my guess is your next step is to tune the set into the UK channels.
You can certainly add photos, as I did when you requested shots of my 'woodwork'.
Add them as attachments, drag and drop as it says below your messages.
I THINK I have also seen movies on here. (maybe not as I watch youtube a lot !)
My guess is to drag and drop the movie file just as though it was a photo.
It seems you are making great progress.
As I mentioned, if I cannot get the TV working I hope to input RCA data from an Xtron DVB tuner through the VTR RCA terminals.
I was going to get a Freeview HD, but that is being phased out; although the DVB T2 tuners are much better (I have read).
I let you know when, and if, I get there.
My conversion is due to start so pennies are scarce
aha! ill send a vid tomorrow. Yeah im gonna try find some videos on the UK channel tuner. Not my biggest worry as i have many DVDs and CDs to use and watch. The more i mess about with the car the more i love it!! i prob wont use the tv much, i have also seemed to find a couple radio stations (capital, kiss, heart, radio 6?)
im also finding the previous owners saved songs amusing, has very eclectic taste if i could explain it in a sentence .
next step is apple car play and Alloys, i just think it will add that little bit of modern looks and tech that finish it off.
I would love to keep updated on your conversion and headunit work, will you be doing it yourself or sending your van to a specialist?
Good Luck!

Hey, i was sorting something out on my alphard and noticed my carpet on the right rail was sticking out more than usual, i looked in closed and the little bit of plastic that was keeping it together has fallen out of place along with the carpet.. does anyone know how to put it back in??

Thanks for the floormat info. Much appreciated.
Please let me, and all Alphardies, know how to turn the TV on.
I was using Google Lens last night but didn't find the answer yet !
I've figured how to turn on the tv! cant get uk channels yet, but dvds and blu rays work, can you send videos onto the forum because i will send one? or a little photo guide??

also @Rojie here are the floormats i bought

I have not got around to trying the VTR terminals.
I am assuming if I feed RCA signals in there, they will appear on the HDD screen.
That's how I was going to attach the Xtron TV tuner, but would input some other RCA signals just to test the connection.
Voyage of discovery.
Pop round to Naeem, I am sure he won't mind. I would if I was as close as you are.
Yeah will do, just sent an email and he said he is happy to sort it out for me!

Did Naeem demo the TV through a phone app ?
Or was it showing regular English TV ?
Do you have the HDD manuals?
I have two.
Page 284 in the thicker HDD manual seems to be where the TV section begins (in Japanese).
My English language handbook do not even cover the HDD, let alone the Theatre system.
Maybe you need to call, or visit Naeem, as you aren't a million miles away !
Although I don't have the Theatre system you have raised my curiousity regarding the TV.
Perhaps I can get mine to work.
If not, I expect to buy an Xtron tuner and wire that in
.
Good luck, and please let me know how you get it switched on.
yes i do have the HDD manuals. and yes, it was showing regular english tv. I dont know how he did it but he seems to know his way round these cars, also sorry i keep calling him Raeem, i know someone called that so i keep getting it mixed up! maybe thats what my VTR connection is for?
im trying to figure out how to turn it on too, alot trickier than it should be!!
when i press the tv button nothing appears but somehow Naeem put channels up
my remotes need new batteries so i will have to get them first

Hi again,
I don't have the theatre system, so am not sure your system even has TV.
If it has, it will be optimised for Japan!
I'll check my manuals.
My DVD works fine, but is fiddly with all the Japanese stuff to wade through for track selection, etc.
I would expect your DVD to play to the TV screen whilst the vehicle is stationary.
I also assume the rear TV should work when on the move....
More reading required.
when you say my system doesn't have a tv what do you mean by that? I deffo have one next to the climate controls and Raeem demonstrated how it worked, but not how it turned on. So that's all I'm looking for. I am also not fussed about music on a DVD because i have a bluetooth adapter for my iphone, works like a charm... but still want apple car play! my 05 cooper s is going to the garage friday with a few problems so that will be the apple car play money gone for a little while haha... so i will have to wait
-
i was wondering if anyone knows how to setup the rear tv with the original menu/HDD, cant figure it out!
-
i think its called cuttothechase

I haven't used him, or anyone else for that matter.
I think he was mentioned on this site.
I was interested because, apparently, he can retain the Japanese HDD unit without losing the 4 way camera function.
Unfortunately, I am too far away to visit him.
It is claimed everything works as normal. Check him out on ebay.
New head units are available much cheaper (Xtrons) as he charges £400 (including Sat Nav (which may be via your phone)).
I don't use Apple, and will probably buy a Garmin.
Got your wheels yet ?
Alright, i use apple so i will probably do this as i still want the original unit. Also no havent got any wheels yet. dont wanna rush into a pruchase. I wanna make sure im 100% sure what wheels i want because it could be a very expensive mistake

Have you used him for your alphard?
And what time of carplay install is it?
also does everything work as normal?

does anyone know a good (and preferably cheap) place or person i can get apple car play fitted for my 08 mz-g edition. I've seen some where they change the whole headunit and others where they have the original headunit, but the carplay is on the TV channel. Id prefer to keep the original unit so i can still have the audio adjustments menu for my theatre sound system
Many thanks in advance

Thanks for this. I appreciate it. I like the colour, it would work well in mine.
Previously, you were interested in the differences between our vehicles.
I note that you have an Alphard motif just behind the centre console. Nice
I don't have one of those, unless it is covered by my carpets. I'll check.
I really like the attention to detail that the Japanese have included in these MPVs.
I also notice the volume controls on the back of your centre console. I don't have Theatre Sound so I don't have those..
But I do have the VTR connection, same as you.
What do you use it for. I have not got that far yet.
Why was yours in the garage ?
Best wishes
oh wow that's interesting, i assumed all alphards had that little logo.
also i have no idea what my vtr connection is for, trying to figure it out. the cables are completely hidden
It was just in for a check up, thats all
also when you compare your vans.. i do agree that there is not one exactly the same!! i mean I'm sure there is, but like you said the little details and differences in these cars are amazing, and it just adds to the uniqueness of the vehicle, it really is amazing and ive never seen any car before with these amazing optional features
-
here you are, sorry for the long reply, the carpets in the rear can be bigger, but i cut them so they wouldn’t interfere with the rails, but they still pick up a good amount of dirt, the carpets do need cleaning so i’m going to sort that out today

ill send a link
Hybrid owners - any regrets?
in Toyota Alphard Hybrid (2002 - 2008)
Posted
@arthurj In all Alphard's including the hybrid you get about 30mpg on avg, 24 ish in cities and 36 ish on motorways
I have a 3L so is a bit greedier than the 2.4 petrol and hybrid. But those are the generic readings
Definitely most practical car if your looking for mpg.. But this one bad does not outweigh all the good!
It is one of the best cars I've owned and i have loved it to bits, and 30mpg isn't as bad as you think!
You can always LPG convert which will set you back around 1500 avg.. you will get around 60mpg
YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER HYBRID/PETROL VAN ON THE MARKET
(you can also check out the Nissan elgrand. I like them a lot but went for a Toyota due to the features and reliability)
Hope this helps
