  1. Hi Tarzan. There is a guy in Bham called Ben Hau. Not sure if he is on here, but is on FB. He usually retains the original head unit, but allows it to show an Android screen layout to mirror your phone. By doing this steering controls and all camera functions are retained. Hope this helps!
  2. Is it possible to get a Certificate of Conformity from Toyota, either UK or Japan? I guess it would need translating though.
  3. Best if she wears a hard hat.... with a slot to fit the door edge in, otherwise she may end up with a slot in her head!
  4. You will need a substantial pole to prop the tailgate in the fully open position. Alternatively position your wife under it, if she is fairly tall! Unbolt one ram at a time and replace with the new ram, don't remove both at once! The brackets are held to the rams via c clips, inside each end of the rams. If you can get these out good on you! I used a hacksaw to cut the ball housing open, then a hammer and chisel to open the saw cut enough to fish the C clip out. Then the bracket with ball, can be easily removed. Re-fit the top and bottom brackets. Spray white grease in the ball cups, each end of a new ram. Push each end of the ram over the ball joints, they clip on. Same with the other side. Remove the pole ..... or wife!
  5. Just to clarify, mine is a 2008 Vellfire with power lift tailgate.
  6. Guys, has anyone successfully altered the max cruise speed? Mine is set to 68mph max, and really want to alter this.
  7. So, after a few weeks of getting fed up of adjusting the Rear View Mirror, I decided to change it. Mirror complete with bracket removed from the windscreen. I previously bought an Aventis Auto Dip Mirror with bracket from ebay. My car had TV fitted, so 4 aerials across the top of the windscreen. Decided to remove these to tidy things up, but, to save running new cables, I opted to leave the longest 2 aerial cables in situ, with the aerial ends cropped off. One cable for the Mirror feed n return, the other cable for a Dashcam in the future. Lower end of the Mirror cable was spliced into a fused live feed, that was for the TV Tuner, giving a switched 12V feed. Connected the aerial cable to the Mirror Flyleaf, under the cab roof light, then plugged into the mirror. Eureka, works, green light on with ignition. This Mirror is secured with a grub screw, but its not a standard M5 thread. Will find an M5 tap, and run it through, then an M5 Grub Screw will be fitted.
  8. Have to admit my reverse camera is not particularly clear at night. I have led bulbs for reversing, so maybe too bright?
  9. Fitted these AliExpress specials! Have driven using them a few times, and a real improvement. £14.45 60%OFF | Carshark 360 H7 Led Headlights Canbus No Error H1 H8 H9 H11 Auto Bulb Turbo CSP Hb3 Hb4 9012 Hir2 Lamps Ice 9005 9006 Car Lights https://a.aliexpress.com/_ufyk4M
  10. Not being funny, but have you wiped the camera lens clean? It may be that you are getting excessive reflection back from the snow.
  11. If there is a Cabin/Pollen Filter, may be worth changing. They rarely get changed!
  12. My pleasure AlfA. Think I will start a list of mods, parts used, and where sourced. Fitted LED Main Beam units, and like daylight when they're on!
  13. So, my struts arrived. £23.71 36%OFF | Dampers for Toyota Alphard Vellfire (AH20) 2008-2015 Minivan Van Rear Tailgate Trunk Lift Supports Gas Struts Shock Absorber https://a.aliexpress.com/_vcLcJO Well fitting is a doddle, once the original rams have been separated from the ball joints. Mine were a swine to remove, courtesy of a Junior Hacksaw, Cold Chisel and a Hammer! Bottom line... well pleased. Manual opening is sooo different. Lift about 500mm and rams take over, fully opening the door. Same on electric lift, goes fully open, and closes fine.
  14. Hi, am awaiting delivery, but will post up once fitted. Fed up of banging my head on the door!
  15. Have ordered a pair of struts from AliExpress, so when they arrive will report back!
  16. Hi, and many thanks for the quick reply. I have a set of fog lamps to replace the reflectors, courtesy of AliExpress, so will check to see if they are reflective. Also have a set of mud flaps, so reflectors on the 2 rear flaps could be the easiest way round this issue.
  17. Hi, did you get replacement gas struts for your tailgate? My door does not fully open so suspect weakened struts. Do Previa struts fit?
  18. Hi, newbie Vellfire 2008 owner here and still getting to grips with things. Are the bumper reflectors simply clip in? I have a rear fog light dangling below the rear bumper, which looks awful. I would like to replace the rear reflectors with reflector/fog light units. Any info on how to swap would be amazing.
  19. Thanks, will have a look at the Pure units.
  20. Chris, we have a Vellfire with this same head unit. If you have any more info about it or what it can do I would appreciate it. Have you fitted a band/frequency expander? If so which did you use?
