  1. Just as a foot note to last post I wouldn’t bother replacing the head unit as I have the GL so premium sound system fitted I just added a CarPlay unit so keep all the features of the original system video cameras etc just stream the Apple CarPlay unit to Aspare Fm frequency works great only cost about $69 here in Australia made in china of course has sat nav as well so retained all the original Head unit features which are really excellent shame to go to all that expense and loose some of the steering wheel controls when replacing the original head unit only I fitted my apple car to the dash with strong 3m tape so no damage to dash then fed cable down to the cigarette lighter plug.
  2. The button you’re referring to switches the front and side cameras on the screen when the car is in reverse pushing it again turns the rear camera on again. i have the 2008 series 20 so I use this if your in reverse but want to see the side and front cameras handy if your reversing but want to see the side camera display. i also have the front camera turned on auto so it displays when car slows to 4kph or less you can set this on the screen using the far right icon on bottom of screen then shows Auto. see pictures hope this clarifies the use of that switch.
  3. Hi there I used Paul when I lived in the Uk to import a Nissan Elgrand back in 2013 he’s a great knowledgeable bloke was going to use him to import an Alphard into Australia when I moved back here but the process is far more complex than the Uk so had to use a local contact here to secure one can’t recommend him enough.
  4. hi Jimmympv Well it is tricky just remove the 2 screws that are there they are need ed to secure new unit I tried to remove chair side cover which obviously would make the whole job easier but no matter what I tried i loosened all the screws I could find I couldn’t get the side covers off. So I managed to prise the cover out a bit and had to break a securing plastic clip so I could get enough leverage to get the new unit in it did take a while and a lot of cursing it was over 2 yrs ago but l will post a picture of the new unit in situ tomorrow and post them if you can find any info on getting the side covers off it would be self explanatory but I couldn’t and I didn’t want to break them.
  5. Wow that sounds like a complex job you seemed to know what your doing pity you weren’t able to pick up a new unit overseas as Toyota in the Uk and Oz are ridiculous in there pricing of parts sometimes if you can’t find generic parts it’s cheaper to buy from Japan even with the freight cost.
  6. Hi Jimmympv I take it you’ve looked in the zip compartment that stores the head rest for the 3rd row as they are sometimes put there for shipping and also the storage compartment for the jack as I thought mine was missing till I had a good look and found them as I was going to purchase ones as well. They really should be posted separately along with the gear knob another item that’s popular to go missing when cars shipped from Japan. Regards skippy992
  7. Hi BigNev Thats ok always glad to share information here is a photo of one of the rappers just to reassure you.
  8. Like I said you have to search a base Alphard as this is the only parts map it will show up on and is difficult to find. just explain when you order and send them a photo of the part you should be able to google an image but that is definitely the part nos as I’ve still got the Toyota rappers for mine. just confirm they are the black ones if you say they have them in stock that’s great perhaps because mine were cream that’s why I had to wait. The parts have different nos as they are for left and right and are different. cheers
  9. Hi bigNev The parts are called lever sub assembly left 72058-58020-AO & 72057-58050-AO right sub assembly AO at the end denotes colour yours is black so would be replaced with CO I ordered the parts from this company in Japan which I always source for hard to find parts specific for the alphard JP CAR PARTS these parts are not readily available I had to wait about 2 months for them to be made to order cost was about 3500 yen each plus shipping but you could check with them if you include your chassis no they will confirm they are the correct part very good company to deal with hope this helps please feel free to contact me for any other info you need. These part nos are difficult to find too me a while to track them down from the parts catalog if you search under your car they will not be shown as not fitted they are only shown with cars without the captains seats. Regards
  10. Just had a new screen fitted to a 20 series here in Perth had to wait 2 months o Brian glass had to source one from Toyota Japan didn’t have to pay any excess was allowed one free excess screen every renewal year couldn’t find out how much it cost had a problem with rain sensing wipers not working but was soon sorted so all ok now. very difficult to source an after market screen for these vehicles.
  11. Hi sumogogg yes the seats move forward with that front lever and the other lever which is normally blanked out but with the option I talked about before allows seats to be moved from side to side also allowing them to be pushed further Back than would normally be the case due to seats hitting the wheel arches covers. Other2 switches are for reclining seat and raising and lowering leg rest. These are great cars I imported mine direct from the auction in Japan over 2 years ago into Australia where I now live but over in the Uk now visiting family hope that info helps you decide.
  12. Hi have had a GL model with these seats passengers love them especially kids with the electric foot rest and recline I’ve fitted levers so seats can be moved from side to side as Toyota did not fit these to these seats just a blanking plate but cable is fitted just not the lever but can be ordered as a spare part from Japan. Toyota Japan have not given any explanation why these weren’t fitted. only down side to these seats is if your wanting to move a lot of stuff with the rear seats strapped up. I’ve attached a picture of the seat lever fitted not standard in this model with these captains seats’
  13. Like I said works well my alphard must have been modified as it streams from the phone even when the vehicle is in motion so can enjoy catching up with all the news from the Uk streaming GB news live on both screens while out and about also have a FM streamer tuned into a spare FM channel and able to stream BBC sounds and all radio through the original premium sound system didn’t need to change the original head unit which is very good quality and retain all the original steering buttons which you can sometimes loose when fitting after market head units.
  14. Yes it was from AliExpress but I think I’ve seen it on eBay Uk as well this one has HDMI output as well as RCA as most mirror cast have just HDMI only.
