Sorry to hear that, but they sound like cheap fixes if you're still happy with the van overall. Table leg, I'd switch to a tripod base and pack it up when not in use, cupboard catches can be easily upgraded for buttons if you find the right type and sizes at screw fix etc. No idea about water systems but a jubilee clip might sound like something you could tackle yourself in replacing. Fair play having a mini rant though, it's good for the soul.

Eskdale National Trust campsite, Boot, Cumbria. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/holidays/eskdale-campsite-lake-district Limited number of campervan pitches but they have close EHUs, there is a good shower and pot wash facility, a basics shop, a pub in easy walking distance, no tv or phone reception but good wifi. Great site at the end of the Hardknott Pass that you should probably avoid in a campervan, and it's close to Wastwater England's deepest lake(I think). Bos Verbas, Camping and Caravan Club Site, Helston, Cornwall. https://bosverbas.com/ Expensive but a really upmarket site in a great location for St Michael's Mount, Land's End, Penzance, St Ives, etc. Small with only about 12 pitches but you get a massive area all to yourself, good facilities, fresh eggs for sale, really pretty views and nice garden patches. Will add a 3rd best when I decide.

I've just offered up 2 x 1.2m C rails to the van to get my head round how I'll fasten it. The rubber trim that runs the length of the van roof is the perfect width to take the rail and it just pops in and out easily. I'm think about seeing if I can put some cuts in the awning rail to allow me to bend it to the shape of the roof where needed, then screw it to the black rubber trim and put that back in with added blobs of high strength adhesive of some kind. I think with it being laterally secure in the roof channel it would hold well with the added 'glue'. Anyone got any tips they can share or a better idea where to fix?

Mine arrived while I was away and I dont know how to judge it to be honest. It seems to be cut correctly with the holes in the right places and I think the postage creases will come out but I think it's gonna need a shed load of velcro patches or double sided tape to hold it in the right place. I'll make a decision on sticking it or not when the creases are all gone. The area on the windscreen side of the demisting vents will be an issue I think.

So remember when I said I hate the big heavy git hookup cable I have, I take it all back. Every inch required in Devon.

I have a 2.4 54 plate and it's had ample power for me on some pretty treacherous roads and it sits very comfortably win the motorway at 80mph with a full load of camping crap. The V6 does make a better sound though.

I’ve been all over the south west this week and only seen 2 other Alphies in the wild. It’s a rare beast.

Seen some very impressive roof tents on campsites. Not sure I could be arsed putting it away to go driving in the day.

The handling was a bit wollowy when I got it but I don’t think it had the right tyres. Added much heavier load new boots, got the tracking done and it feels solid now, drives on rails considering it a bleedin camper van. Ride is great as well. They look mint now they got 1000+ Kms of dirt of them and I’m not setting off home til Sunday.

This the one I'm guessing. It's sort of impressive in theory but I'm not sure the Imperial Rising Sun is something modern day Japanese would appreciate. I was thinking something like this but with the retro colour scheme on that Toyota race car I posted. (Before I read about insurance)

I hadn't even considered that, cheers. I doubt I'l bother but there must be some cool looking Alphies out there that have done it right.

What are your thoughts on subtle decals on Alphies? Lots of Campervans have something be it stripes down the lower sides or the larger side graphics. I often have daft ideas I never follow up on but wondered how many on here have done similar.

These Toyota classic racing colours could look decent used in a different 3 colour stripe design I think. Would look best on a white Alphie but it might work on my silver one.

Has anyone added any decals etc to their Camphards? I'm 50/50 toying with the idea of getting something unique on my van and have a couple ideas so wondered how many on here have customised in that way? Or do you think it looks naff? Photos most welcome.
