This has probably gone off the original topic a little but my take on this, I tow a caravan mtplm 1232kg with my vellfire after some research and information gathered my understanding of the illegality is, the uk law is "not applicable". The uk law only applies to models built for the European market. Grey imports don't come under EU regulations, therefore rules that do not exist can't be applied. One thing to note as well Is there any evidence or records of a grey import driver being prosecuted for towing with a imported vehicle, I don't know of any. The law about a lack of towing weights on the VIN is for cars built for the European market, so that it is clear that an offence has been committed when a vehicle is stopped and the plate inspected. The lack of VIN plate towing weights on an imported vehicle is not reasonable grounds that a towing offence has been committed, as unlike on a European vehicle the lack of towing weights does not indicate it is not allowed to tow as the towing weights on the vin is not a requirement of the market it was destined for. Obviously it is best to follow the caravan club 85% kerb weight guide. I have informed my insurance Aviva,and it has been noted I tow a caravan with the vellfire, they told me there was no requirement to inform them but this may not apply to all insurance companies always worth a phone call, the addition of a towbar is classed as a modification to the car but no increase in premium. I will certainly though take a look at SVTech as per Andyx post above.

Has anybody removed there's and fitted a blank plate cover

The black one could have been for a "remote engine start', got one on mine but been disconnected

Just curious of any ideas tips, where looking to camp in the vellfire just the odd night or two, I don't want a full camper conversion it's currently a 7 seater, I'm having a awning rail fitted over the next week will report back with that, looking to swivel the front passenger seat is this a easy job, currently have a center console as well will this need removing, any thoughts best to remove the rear seats for the extra space or make use of them for a bed, going to try a airbed in the back, I have most other camping gear cadac porta potti electic hook up cable etc. Thanks.

I got supplied version 17, using the v12 on the link which may as well stick with I presume the newer version techstream won't give any more options than the v12.

Aviva insurance, had to ring them for my vellfire couldn't do it online, cheaper for me than Adrian Flux

Doors and tailgate now bleep just once, bought the techstream software and cable from ebay, had a few problems installing as my laptop is 64bit, searched and followed this guide all works great using virtual box. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/how-to-techstream-in-5-minutes.1034923/ I'll try again installing on my laptop at some point but it doesn't seem to like the 64bit windows.

I've recently had these delivered from aliExpress, not fitted yet, look good when tested need linking to the side lamps so they switch off when side lights are on. They replace the front indicator bulbs. https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005001862616965.html
