Thanks everyone for replying and for your advice. I'll take 1 or 2 psi out when I am next near an accurate gauge. I had no idea what the W rating meant. I do now. Re the Park/ Neutral/Drive thoughts. I do, now, remember the other issue that I was told about........when arriving home or at your destination. Put in Neutral for a moment or two, then in Park before shutting down. This would allow the transmission fluid to 'settle down'? Does that make any sense?! Thanks again. Graham

I did think so too, but having been with this garage for decades I tend to defer to their advice. My old front tyres did about 23k with 36psi New fronts are 225/55 R17 101W Rears are 225 /55 R17 97w. I think the old fronts were 97W Thanks and kind regards Graham

This is the first automatic car I have ever had. Any tips on winter driving please? Especially in snow. Also I have been in the habit of selecting Neutral when waiting at traffic lights and keeping my foot on the brake. The reason being that if left in Drive it feels as if the gearbox is 'hunting' to move off and, to me, it feels as if the clutch is slipping as if it where a manual gearbox. Is this the right thing to do or should I leave it in Drive? On a separate point, tyre pressures. I have had 2 new front tyres a week or so ago. My garage advised that they should be 40 psi all round. Interestingly they commented that the wheels and tyres were underrated for the weight of the vehicle. Ideally it should have been more like large 'transit van' type. Has anyone else come across this? Thanks for the Forums help as always. Graham

Thanks, I'll check but it's not obvious to me. May it have been taken out when the new radio/ reversing camera put in? There is also a short cable with a usb socket at the end that I can attach a phone to which allows the phone to charge. That was fitted as part of the radio upgrade. The need for an accessory socket/cig lighter is really for my dash cam and a small car hoover. Thanks for your help. Cheers Graham

Good morning, having chickened out of trying to change the cig lighter fuse/repair the fitting, is there any other way of connecting my sat nav to power up. This would also apply to my dash cam both of whom need a cig lighter socket. Thanks Kind regards Graham

Hi, I've taken advice from my local garage and they have recommended a wireless rear facing camera at the top of the rear windscreen. Certainly the fitted one I have tends to flare out because of it's proximity to the reversing lights. I'll check online for a kit. Cheers Graham

Has anyone retro fitted parking sensors to a 2006 Alphard?

I have exactly the same problem with the cig lighter. I noted that back in 2023 a post suggested 2 usb sockets were put in the AC100 sockets. Have I got that right and where are these sockets? Thanks. Graham

I asked the question E5 or E10 when we bought our Alphard (camper conversion) 2.4 litre petrol and was told to mix E5 and E10. I run most of the time on E5 and occasionally top up with E10. No issues for me so far. Not very objective though!

I'm struggling to get the correct tyre pressure for 225/55R17 95W wheels and tyres. Front and rear state 230 (2.3) is this 2.3 bar? Can you help please?

I have just had our Alphard serviced at our local garage. Been with them for decades and have a great relationship. No issues and pleasantly surprised at the comments.....engine nice and tight etc. I queried the service interval at 7k-8k miles as it seems short compared to the 12k-15k which is the norm these days. "for a 2.4l engine the sump is quite small, only 4l, hence the shorter service interval" Enough said! I thought this info might be of use to others. Cheers Graham
