Hi all. Looking at a 2006 gen 1 alphard. The price is good, but the owner says he doesn't have the remote key anymore. He just has a key which unlocks and starts the vehicle. From reading other threads on here, it looks like I may be able to buy a new key blank like This and then either try and find an automotive locksmith or use tech stream to register it with the van. Only issue I'm seeing is that some posts on here mention needing a master key. Does that mean this won't work without the original? Any advice appreciated, and if anyone has a known trusted auto locksmith on the South coast, that'd be great too Thanks

Thanks for the responses on this guys. Ulez isn't a requirement for me, and I don't think it will be for the 4 years I'll need this alphard. I appreciate what you're saying about not letting milage be the deciding factor. I'm not fussed about the dvd player and from what I'm reading about replacement head units the theatre sound may be more trouble than it's worth. White looks a bit nicer, but it's my temporary dad wagon, so I'm not overly concerned with looks. Am I overlooking anything obvious between these 2? Edit: the gold one comes with a 2 year warranty, while the white one is only 6 months

Hi guys, I've narrowed down my purchase to 2 vans. They're both 3.0v6 mz-g models Ones an 04 with lower miles and a 4 speed box The other is an 07 with a 5 speed box Price is about the same, all things being equal we're leaning towards the 04 because the mileage is crazy low. Is the difference between the 4 speed and 5 speed that big? It's mostly local driving, we're not playing regular big motorway journeys, and it's not being camper converted, so no extra weight to carry

Hi all. Apologies if this has been discussed to death, I did a search but couldn't find anything relevant. We're in the market for an alphard/ vellfire and went to look at some today. I test drove one wth the 3.0v6 and one with the 2.4. There wasn't much in it in terms of driving experience - the 3.0 was a bit smoother maybe. Is there a consensus on which is the better or more reliable engine? I read that the 3.0 is a bit difficult to change the rear bank of spark plugs, but it's there anything else to look out for? Also, this particular van is 4wd, anything I should be aware of regarding that? I figure it'll be a bit worse on fuel, but just want to make sure it's not going to grenade itself. Any advice is much appreciated.
