  1. Hi, I'm importing a Vellfire, and I've been discussing insurance with companies, believing I need to insure it on the VIN/chassis number, until it's registered. I've even spoken to Jap Cover/Mark Richards, and they don't insure on VIN either, due to the rule stating that insurance has to go on the police database within a week of it being taken out. So basically the way the import is working is: It comes into port addressed for care of import agency, I pay import agency, and a local garage comes and takes it away for MOT etc. I'm currently under the impression the garage will allow me to pay a storage fee, and they'll sort out the registration for me. I think this means I don't have to insure the car until it's registered, as it won't be going anywhere except for to the garage. Does anybody have any insight into the process. or insuring the car? Thanks
  2. Thanks, where did you get it, and what's it called please?
  3. Thanks, it's more that from what I'd understood the wires behind the navi unit aren't the same as most 20 series alphards so there aren't any plug and play harnesses. I don't know if I've misunderstood or if that's correct, but I'm hoping it's not a case of having to determine which wire is which, and then wire the matching pairs together.
  4. Hi, The Vellfire we have coming over, comes with a Panasonic navi nsdn-w60. I've looked at a couple of head unit places including eonon, and they seem to suggest I'd need a custom harness. Has anybody changed one of these radios, what unit did you replace it with, and what did you have to do with the wiring please? Thanks
  5. No, that's not what I'm saying, that would be illegal. I'm saying that as an import I can't insure with a registration until the car gets the registration, but I also have to insure it as soon as it lands, so I'll have to insure it temporarily on the vin number alone, while the import garage sorts out all my paperwork etc.
  6. I spoke to them this morning, and got a rough quote I'm happy with. I didn't think of it but I'm guessing they'll insure based on vin number until it has a proper uk reg.
  7. Hi, I was hoping to import a 20 series hybrid, but insurance is either non existent or stupid prices. Has anybody had any luck with hybrid quotes? My best quote is £950, which is £400 more than the best I got for a plain 2.4l petrol, or even a 2.4l 2016 hybrid. I can stomach around £550, but anything near £1000 is crazy.
