Looking for Android Head Unit for AH20 2008

Hi guys~~

I've been trying to look for an Android Head unit for my AH20 2008 Alphard..

Which won't affect any of the factory function eg. parking camera

Can anyone recommend one please??

I know Ben Hau can do that without swapping the head unit..

but I'm looking to connect a USB memory stick or stick an SD card into the head unit, so I wouldn't have to connect my phone to the head unit..

And I don't believe it's possible with the factory head unit??

Also, I've seen some Tesla styled head units installed onto some Alphards..

Has anyone done this on here??

Thank you~

im sure the units ben installs have 2 usb inputs for storage, he wont give exact model details of the GVIF box he is using, though, which I can understand from a business point of view, but its irritating as hell, there would be alot more custom for him if he was more unfront, as from all my digging into the costs of the various gvif boxes and the wiring looms means he is not making much profit at all, at most he is making £80 per install.

attached is a type of interface box that sits between the exisiting park assist box and the headunit, you then feed an android box in to this (as well as any other video source)

I think he has a box that has the android portion integrated

good find @Chris.ac, would it have the capabilty for live TV?

Yes, by all accounts, the box that ben will fit (similar to the one posted in my pdf) 'should' have an extra video input, this could be a Digital TV box.

The system installed comprises an android media box, that either uses the aux input, or sits inbetween the existing GVIF connector for the navigation system or parking assist system.

It then adds a small board that intercepts the touchscreen and either passes it to the headunit or the android box depending on what is displayed on the screen.

So you are really just piggybacking a video signal on to a video signal

Ben replied and stated "No tv sorry , uk tv is digital, also carplay wont let any of video files display" .

If you want TV you could look at Haupuage, or something similar, and feed it through the VTR input.

I was going to do this but never tried it, using a PC instead.

Japanese TV and UK TV use different frequencies anyway.

If my method does work, let us all know; but don't be surprised if it doesn't work unless vehicle is stationary (in Park)  and the foot brake is on.

Also be aware that Freeview HD is being phased out.

I am unaware if the Haupuagge type gadgets provide Freeview Plus.

There are always more questions than answers !

as you rightly said @rojie, the PC or tablet is the way to go for TV, and of course an Unlimited Broadband package in a good signalled area!🙃
