kully Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Who are you lovely folk using to insure your 3.5 Alphard? The websites (e.g. compare the market) I've tried only have the Vellfire 3.5 in their system, and the recommended alternatives (Adrian Flux, Advantage, ...) are coming up at ~£650 vs. ~£350 for the equivalent Vellfire model on the online sites 😞
Bazzer1955 Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 I am using Adrian Flux ATM, as I was in a rush but next year will be different as I am sure I can get a better deal elsewhere

Try to search for Insurance in the search box at the top right of your home page.
kully Posted December 9, 2022 Author Posted December 9, 2022 Thanks Rojie, I checked the mega thread but it's focused on 10 series Alphards. I couldn't find useful answers for insuring 3.5 litre Alphards more efficiently than contacting the specialist insurers.
Chris.ac Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 I just went with Mark Richards, I got frustrated with the various nonsense from other insurers e.g. alphard, but only 2.4lt or vellfire with others but no alphard. You'd think they would all align their database the way they continuously prattle on about sharing data. It all seems underhanded, like they are deliberately trying to miss-sell, in order to slopey shoulders any claims.
Robin Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 I was also forced, but grateful, to use Adrian Flux after going round all the insurers - My Toyota Regius 3.0 TD was insured by Direct Line for 15 years without a claim. I got my Alphard 3.5 November a year ago and Direct Line simply transferred the Regius insurance to the Alphard. Then in June when renewal came up they told me they would no longer insure me. I pointed out that the Alphard and Velfire were basically the same car, but it fell on deaf ears, simply, it was not on their data base. I also had a Nissen 350Z and a Lexus 430SC insured with them and never a claim. So much for their TV adverts - Direct Line are no longer recommended by me to my friends and collegues and anyone else out there.
Voodoo101 Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 I got my 2009 Vellfire earlier this year and had a nightmare. Some places would not quote because it was an import. Tried comparison sites but they only had they only listed 240X and 240S, but mine is a 240Z, so a few would not insure (if they put it down wrong, your insurance is invalid and the will not pay out). Phone Admiral who said they could sort out a price and would phone me back. That was 4 months ago and still no phone call. Ended up with Adrian Flux. My last insurance was a group policy with a company car, so they arranged for the claims free years to count as no claims bonus, then negotiated with the brokers to get a price cheaper then Admiral. They then covered my excess free of charge, so in the event of an accident, my excess is covered. Then there was a problem on the paperwork from my old insurance company that said that I had a claim but was not a claim. This cause confusion with Adrian Flux when they received it think I had not told them of a claim. When it was sorted they gave me compensation for the error and it was not even their fault.
scraggyhound Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Adrian flux for me too as I needed to insure on the VIN number until I got my DVLA stuff through. Tho I did think it was a bit pricey but it was easy and just the one phonecall.

Of course, Gen 1 and Gen 2 are different; but not that much, other than value. I think it is the JDM bit that confuses most. 1

Tara_22 Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 I’m with Brentacre for my 3.5. My car is currently unconverted but Brentacre are fine if I want to convert.
