Could some explain some of the dash light meanings. Especially a lit up red car with an explanation point through the car. I just bought the vehicle and waiting for my manual to come from the UK and am not familiar with dash lights yet. I have a 2004 hybrid.

Hello Duane,

Welcome to the distant Forum.

Checking my manual I cannot find a light as you describe.

There is a symbol with a car, and what appears to be two exclamation marks which is for lane assist.

Door open shows a car, but no exclamation.

Can you post a photo ?

When that happened to mine I then had a VSC light come on and another one it indicated hybrid fault. I managed to find a hybrid specialist who put his diagnostic machine on and it proved to be an inverter fault.  He located a second hand inverter and has the battery out to service it.  I am hoping it will be up and running today, after he puts it all back together.

I hope you get yours sorted.

I get that light if I don't turn the ignition on quickly enough when I unlock the van, with mine it is because the Toad alarm doesn't speak Japanese... it then takes a couple of journeys to reset. A pain but worth it for the security

Hi there,

it's a "hybrid system malfunction" does it still run?

Oh thank you Montecrist0.  I went and checked my gear screen and saw it wasn’t charging my hybrid battery so you were right it was the charging system for the hybrid. Now here’s what happened, my van sat for a few days and when I went out to start it up this morning, the dash light symbol was gone and my charging system is running again. Does the computer reset itself when I let the vehicle sit over night? It seemed to do so. Or is that a warning that something may be starting to go wrong and I should have it looked at? Thank you for your help again Monté.

The HV battery won't charge when first started it has to warm up to charging temp so if you're just sitting idling it will take about 3 to 7 minutes, depending on ambient temp, before it starts charging. Not too sure about your symptoms though.

The HV battery should charge to 80%. If it aint broke don't fix it!!!!! 🔧
