Hi everyone,

2005, 3lt. The warning light, on start up comes on then off as it should, but then back on. Both lights dip then raise on start up and work fine, any Idea’s please. Haven’t used lights since winter, but concerned over upcoming mot. Thanks for the knowledge you all give.

All the best.

Hi, If i was you look for the leveling bar and see the switch/sensor and just try and give it a good clean. it could be full of debris.

Thank you so much for the information, the light came on another couple of times and hasn’t since, so no problem with the Mot. I now have another question, I’ll start a new topic.

Like Kerrie, I would like to know where the sensor for the self-levelling headlights is. Anyone help with that?

On my 2005 v6 it’s attached to the rear drivers side wheel. Same on my mates 2003 v6. I would guess same for all Alphard’s. It’s very prone to seizing in British weather (wet, dirt, salt kills the rubber and metal).

I’ve just had to replace the ball-joint levelling arm, see pic of original which has clearly had too much British road salt and not enough cleaning. It has completely seized and was the source of a loud squeak from the R rear; I’m just relieved it wasn’t something more expensive.

I replaced with this rather nice item I bought on eBay for £14 delivered. I did have to cut a longer connecting bar (M6 threaded bar, cut to 50mm; it came with a 40mm bar which would only just have done it). I also added the washers and the nuts to secure the connecting bar length. Total time to replace was 10 mins; quick clean up down there and some liberal application of ACF50 and all looks good.

Hi everyone, thank you wjvh for your info, you are right, needed a good clean and spray, hope it’s done the job, by the way there’s a good clip on You tube for folks like me who are not sure. Thanks again.

Hi there

Could you please post the part number or link please? My light came on and with further investigation I found it has snapped! All I can find are for a toyota Avensis.

Kind regards
