Ken88
Hello everyone, Im thinking of purchasing a 2012 or 2013 Toyota 2.4 Hybrid (undecided yet) next week. This is because i was told that on the newer models, due to the design and the newer hybrid drive, that these would get on average 45mpg compared to the older models? I was also considering saving some money and to buy a previous generation model. Is it worth paying more for the newer generation? Can anyone who has the similar/same model verify if this is true and what they are getting? Anyone help would be much appreciated!
VirtualGuy
Wow, almost 18 months on and no response 😬. I'm interested in the same question - anyone have any information, advice, figures etc? Thanks!

Yes its worth buying newer model, next gen hybrid engine, more gear ratios on the 2.4lt engine gearbox, better regenerative braking. That and the older vehicles are packing battery cells that are several years older. Its not just the hybrid system, its age related wear on all the components like rubbers etc, regardless of mileage, entropy is a bugger.
