Fairway Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Hi, I recently purchased some spare keys which had the 4 bottoms but no chips. I placed the chips from my current keys in the new shell and went to Timpsons to have them cut. They guy was very reluctant and said they don't cut keys they don't supply although previously they told me they can't supply the key. Cut the story short he did it for cash £10 per key but no receipt or garuntee and if I came back it would be denied they ever did it lol The key goes into the ignition and turns the engine over but the engine will not fire up just turns over....is this due to the key being cut wrong or the metal being to thin etc
MonsterS Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 I would say the immobiliser chip lost power or its not close enough to the barrell of the ignition.
Auto lock master Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 The immobiliser chip doesn’t run off power - it runs off a magnetic pulse coming from around your ignition it’s a invisible hand shake that happens every time you start the car! Sounds like you either lost your chip Mir timpsons damaged it when taking your key apart (very common)
