Power socket not working

Featured Replies

Just realised my cig lighter socket isn't working, checked the fuse in the driver's side footwell (what a terrible design to Access) and it's fine, before I start ripping the dash apart.....any common issues to look for.

I'm gonna pull the dash and check for power at the socket as check 1........

Voltmeters can be bought for 20 pounds, or so.

Probably much easier than pulling the dash out.

I have a multi meter and the socket shows zero but I need to pull the centre console to get to the back of the socket to fault trace......

Has someone fitted a USB socket next to it? In a blank switch space?

The usually piggyback the cig connector(plug and play) possibly the cig socket was not reconnected

hey fella, did you find the problem with the 12v power to cig lighter? mine used to work but has lost power somehow, the fuse is fine. replaced it anyway but no luck...

I noticed mine not working when i tried to use a tyre pump.

I disconnected the usb sockets that are connected to the loom that feeds the 12v socket and it started working again.

I haven't got my multimeter out yet to figure out why.

Check if you have any usb ports fitted, as many of the ones that fit into the standard switch positions come with a plug and play connector that takes power from the 12 v socket

thanks for the tip chris, the only thing i can find is the button to override the parking brake switch for the dvd / satnav system which im thinking may take power from the cig 12v circuit. it still has power.
