  1. 2010 GGH20 3.5V6 With the oem 18s and a fresh service iv had 13.2km/L on a long run at around 60mph. Usually would be 12.5km/l close to 35mpg. But iv moved to 20" wheels and cant get much better than 11km/l so 32mpg. Really noticeable drop so may look at selling them and searching for light weight alloys instead.
  2. Iv read the Australians use baby oil wiped over the dash. May be Worth a bit of research perhaps
  3. If it was mine, it would depend on how big the metal fragments were that came out. If you think the internals are still in good shape id go down the route of a flush and new bearing. Are there any indications as to why it failed? Is is a common problem on the 4wd models?
  4. in the past i have had to tape a silca sachet to the inside of the rear cover to absorb any moisture
  5. Car care nut on youtube did a how to video showing the process of changing auto gearbox oil in the 2gr-fe if its any help. The level is set when changing the fluid and thats it.
  6. to remove CDs its far right button on bottom row, then touch screen the eject buttom for cd. then button to close the screen up again. to flip down rear monitor, press 2nd button from right on bottom row. then on that screen, press the top middle icon to open an close it. google translate on camera mode is helpful to guide through the menus etc.
  7. there are a few guides on youtube i just used. hope you get it sorted
  8. It wasn't a difficult job, just awkward. I know Ben Hau can replace the unit as a service, hes on the facebook pages. end of the day its just nuts and bolts, its not cheap even doing it yourself. IIRC the column was £560 delivered. on some videos showing the bush change they remove steering wheel but that not necessary, just drop the column down and unbolt the power steering motor. i believe if its driven with a failed steering motor bush for too long the vibrations go into the column and cause the wear. so if you hear the steering rattle get the bush checked asap, its only an £8 part.
  9. 4520A-58010 steering column. i got mine from amayama. there are few youtube videos on similar toyotas/ lexus with the same rattle from steering coloumn. if you replace the entire column i think it needs programed on techstream. so i removed and replaced the lower section that has the wear. I am now rattle free!
  10. as above that looks fairly normal. I would be concerned if there were any chucks of metal. Auto gearboxes have clutch packs that produce wear and shavings in operation.
  11. yes your on the right lines. you need hub centric spacers so there is a lip for the wheel to centre on. for the oem 18" wheels on the 20 series i have went for 20mm rear and 15mm front. could possibly go wider but at this width there wont be many stone chips up the side of the wagon. those bonos spacers are filmsy looking and not sure if they have passed any safety tests. I would go for H&R or Eibach, you get what you pay for...
  12. Does it judder when you open the bootlid manually? if so then it may be the struts or hinges, would try lubing them and go from there.
  13. Try putting in a CD and record on to the HDD, you may find it then shows. mine was the same, shows 70% but I couldn't find any music on it.
  14. I have been chasing a steering rattle since I bought it months ago (GGH20). first port of call to replace the steering motor damper, but when I removed the power steering motor it had already been replaced, possibly by import dealer. next I checked the steering column and felt movement possibly from the U joints. Bought a new but cheaper than OEM intermediate shaft off the bay and it helped a little but still a bad rattle over rough road surface at lower speeds. So after researching its been noted that the large gear that mechs with the worm gear from power steering can wear. so I stripped it down and greased the two gears. This quietened it down massively, but only lasted a week or 2. As a result I now know its the steering column at fault, so have ordered hopefully a genuine new column minus the motor, from Japan. From what I have read this is common enough, though the previous owner of mine lived along a Stoney lane so this may have been a contributing factor
