matthew2761
Hi everyone, I have a 2008 20 series Vellfire. Trying to change indicator bulbs to LED's, not having much luck getting any to work correctly unfortunately. Anyone here managed it successfully and would mind sharing what LED bulbs they used? Have bought Osram ones, but when fitted I get the rapid flashing (I'm guessing due to lower current it pulls, giving the car a false impression there's a defective bulb) Thanks, Matthew

If all else fails one idea is to wire a resistor in parallel with the new LED bulb to increase the current. If the old bulb was, for example, 6W, that would be 0.5A at 12V. From P = I^2 x R R = P / I^2 R = 6W / 0.5A^2 = 24 Ohms. You need to calculate your current from your bulb power of course. So in this example, a 6W / 24 Ohm resistor is the target. With a power safety factor you could try these 10W parts. They do a 25 Ohm: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265460044257 The same principle is used here but these are 6 Ohms (25W) which would be 2A at 12V and is too much for an indicator: https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/12v-led-load-resistor.html Edited December 30, 2023 by Geralt
Chris.ac
Look for bulbs that state anti hyperflash. These come fitted with resistors already.
matthew2761
Thanks everyone for your replies. Have ordered a set with resistors built in, so fingers crossed they work 😁
big_boz
Piggybacking this thread, anyone fitted the switchback led DRL/indicators in a vellfire that don't sent off any canbus issues?

Chris.ac
I have these, alphard, they work absolutely fine. These generally have a control unit that regulate the flash rate. https://a.aliexpress.com/_mNXLflE

Where did you get the ACC pick up from, is there somewhere Convenient to tap?

Where did you get the ACC pick up from, is there somewhere Convenient to tap? I installed a switch inside car, so ran wire into vehicle, and tied that to the ETC unit wiring, as it is switched, fused, and conveniently placed near the switch blanks. So drl comes on with start, and goes off when ignition is off and drivers door opened ( with switch being override do I can turn them on/ off if sat in car parked up) I plan to add an additional relay connected via the lighting ' auto' Position, so that DRL is on with ignition, and automatically turns off when sidelights come on.
