My 2003 alphard has started knocking over bumps on front both sides ive replaced drop links and anti roll bar d bushes but noise is still there sometimes it sounds like its in middle in front of centre console any bidy have any ideas thanks

If you are handy (if not take it to a garage) I would put it up on axle stands (so the front wheels are off the ground and it's all stable) and then see what you can find that might be moving, I would suspect that it's probably one or more worn bearings but it might take some finding.

See whether the wheels move when you shake then left-right, up-down or clockwise-anti-clockwise.

Do the driveshafts move in and out

Does the steering rack rattle (try the steering wheel first - maybe the steering column is loose somewhere)

Are the brake calipers bolted on

check the anti-roll bar for movement.

Basically take a small crowbar and see what moves - you would need to emulate a 2-ton vehicle going over a bump so good luck.

That's all I can think of off-hand.

Possible causes; ball joints, worn bush(s) in lower arms, steering rack bushes, noise from the centre area could be engine mount

Nice, which dealer did you use? It might be useful for others 🙂

Hi Dave.

Thread resurrection! My 2003 seems to do just this, replaced all the above and still the same. Just came across your thread.

When you say scuttle do you mean under the window?  Or the actual front panel holding rad in?

Mine is odd, you have to have accelerated to lift suspension then it will do it, but not again until you've done the same.  But it's all new now. Was just about to change front pads again to see if if it was them rattling
