Recently bought a converted V8 3.5 Vellfire 2008. Unfortunately had issues with the fobs locking/opening etc. Although had new batteries fitted, both have now failed within 6 months so I now need to use key to open/lock.

I do not understand why the push start takes about twenty attempts to go green to alow start !! is this normal ?? and am concerned to drive with just the key

Also as the fobs are now useles, how do I get them recollaberated ?

Any response would be much appriciated

Hi there!

I wonder if it's possible the batteries weren't good quality?

We've only had our Vellfire a very short time, but the second remote didn't work or was able to be sensed by the car, a new battery brought it to life.

On the push button start, I also figured out that if I don't press hard enough to make the light on the button go green from amber, there's nowt down for starting. Not sure if you knew that bit, I didn't!

It made the noise to - I think - release the steering lock, but not engage the starter.

Hi

Thank you for your reply

The push button is blank, no amber !! should it be amber ? I repeatedly press the start to no avail then out pof the blue it goes green after 20+ plus attempts

As for the fobs i had new batteries fitted on purchase these failed, as locking system seems very tempermental. The new ones fitted this week do not get sensed by the car either

Will a Toyota garage gladly look into imported vehicles ?

No worries!

I'll have to double check this, but on getting in the car, without foot on tbe brake, my first press brings it to accessory position and a small rectangular light within the top portion of the START button goes amber, then if I press on the brake pedal hard enough (I didn't at first) that light goes to green, then press it and it starts.

The locking from my remote works almost all of the time, unless I've left the car in a mode it didn't like!

But stood outside it, very close to it as per the manual, within around 700mm, if I put my hand inside the drivers or passenger door handle it will unlock. Or if locking press the small black button in the handle.

Also, the manual says there are areas to not put the fob, on the dash, in the cupboard, centre console, as it won't like that either. So on the drivers seat is good!

Hi

After new batteries the fobs seem to be useless, using key to enter there is no light on the push start although sometines after 30-40 mins it goes green - today nothing after an hour of trying !!

It seems like the immobiliser has locked me out, can this happen ??

Any suggestions on wehat the issue is, as getting fed up trying

So then, tested ours just now,

stood next to car, hand inside handle and it unlocks.

Sat in car, faint light at back of starter.

One press gave orange light.

Foot on brake - till changes to green light.

Then press it to start up.

I've only got a guess, but if the fobs did work, now don't after new battery, then surely it's got to be fob battery related? It was for mine.

Did you change the battery yourself? Could it be the wrong way up, poor contacts, old stock, or not the correct one?

I believe some Toyota dealers will help, but I would suggest a mobile Auto Locksmith would be a better bet, it's what they do!

Hi

Thanks for you feedback

No matter what i do the push button does not light up however, after 2 hours out of the blue the green light came on and i started the engine, when i turned it off i  could not turn it back on. The batteries were replaced by the shop in 5 seconds,  thererfore I  can only assume its the immobiliser causing this issue as it needs a working fob

I think its best i take it to an auto electrics (providing i can get it there !! )

Blooming well very odd.

I'd say again, a MOBILE auto locksmith, they come to you!

Hi

After a long night of thought, I found the cause :) it was the battery contacts

From purchase I had issues with fob use, so at some point someone fitted batteris and damaged the contacts, as the batteries are very loose

Although I have had to put a bit carboard in to hold them down, I am now have x2 well working fobs

Off camping tomorrow

Thank you for your kind assistance

A few will, most won't.
