Fred Johnson Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Hi all I'm hopefully buying my first Alphard tomorrow! The car is with a dealer and looks great in the ad (given it's age). It's a couple hours drive away, so I haven't been able to see the car for myself yet though. Been doing some final checks and have noticed that it only has MOT history for the last couple years. It was first registered in 2008 but the first MOT only seems to be in April 2023: https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/results?registration=FA08KLD&checkRecalls=true I've also done a full https://www.carcheck.co.uk/ report on it. It doesn't appear to have changed reg since first registration. Which seems be be cause of missing MOTs (according to various other forums). So, I'm wondering why would a car have such a long period between registration and it's first MOT? Is this something to worry about? Thanks in advance.
Michael Brown Posted January 7 Posted January 7 (edited) I would not worry about that. First registered in Japan in 2008, came into this country in 2023, where it will need an MOT etc Welcome to the club Edited January 7 by Michael Brown adding welcome 1

Thank you. I just assumed 'first registered' meant in the UK. I'm going to do the CarVX report, just for peace of mind. But I'm starting to get excited! Thanks both.
Alphard Club Posted January 7 Posted January 7 on my last alphard i purchased a CarVX report and was surprised with the information given. Also past auction reports with pics.
BigNev Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Hi Fred! Good luck for tomorrow, I hope it's as good as the pictures you've seen! The CarVX reports are very good, but not infallible, I did them on one we didn't end up buying, and the one we did. On the Vellfire we did get, the report said the airbag recall was still outstanding, but on Toyota's own site search it has been done. But on both, from the copy of the auctions sheets, with the aid of google translate, I found some useful information on them! Cheers! Nev
