Door handle button not working

Hi everyone I’ve just joined this forum and Im just wondering if anyone had any info on why the door button on my Toyota doesn’t work is there a fuse or box of some sort that I need to change ,the key works fine

Which door ?

 

Do you have smart locking ?

If so, the button is a sensor not a push button.

Hi it’s on the drivers door and the rear tailgate just to double check I think I have the smart key is it the one with all the buttons on it which also opens the side electric doors

No. It does not operate the side doors.

 

The smart fob I have, for the same year as your model, is rectangular.

Has three buttons, lock and unlock, and tailgate.

On the back it has SMART DOOR LOCK. Capitals as per on the fob.

 

But it is much smarter than that. The van can sense it when near and unlock the vehicle as you approach (including the side doors).

If you walk away from the van with the fob in your pocket, the van will lock.

I also think you cannot lock the unit in the van.

 

It probably does a lot more, but those are the only features I am aware of.

 

The immobiliser key should open close the sliding doors, if the dash switch is enabled.

My immobiliser key has four buttons, Lock, unlock, and each power door.

Hi so I take it that I don’t have a smart key fob, I have a key fob which unlocks the car by pushing the buttons on it .

so do you have 2 fobs one that starts the car with the key type fob and the other is a different fob which links to the black button on the door handle

Yes, I have three sets of keys.

 

Each set is a triangular immobiliser key, and the rectangular Smart key fob.

Hi many thanks for getting back to me again so I don’t have anything like that so I would need to buy the smart key fob and get it reprogrammed to my car

This is the immobiliser key, and should open the side doors after you have unlocked the van.

 

I don't have a part number for the remote, or know where to get one programmed / matched to the van.

 

Maybe an auto-electrician can do it, maybe not.

Maybe a Toyota dealer, but that won't be cheap.

 

Make sure you have a spare immobiliser key. 

Without one you cannot start the van, even with the remote.

I would just love to know how to use the black button on the drivers door

Hello Brandon have attached a drawing from look up system also a link where it can be purchased not cheap https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/8999413010 also the fob can be programmed manually by your self there is instructions on the forum somewhere.

Pushing the black button does nothing !

 

You either need a remote as highlighted by Lee, or maybe some other issue is present.

I cannot comment on whether this will work.

 

It looks nothing like the OEM unit, which has the Toyota trade mark moulded in.

 

I doubt any, other than a genuine Toyota unit will work straight from the box.

Maybe the Toyota one will need specialist programming, I don't know.

No it won’t work you need the smart fob to use the keyless option when pressing black button on the handle

Many thanks for letting me know it looks like I might have to bite the bullet

and buy the proper one and hopefully it works and I haven’t got another problem with the keyless control unit which I’ve seen on eBay going for about £150 and then get it all reprogrammed

Looks like a remote starter.

 

I believe it is illegal to start a vehicle remotely in the UK if vehicle is on a public road.
