Which door ? Do you have smart locking ? If so, the button is a sensor not a push button.
Brandon Posted August 23 Author Posted August 23 Hi it’s on the drivers door and the rear tailgate just to double check I think I have the smart key is it the one with all the buttons on it which also opens the side electric doors

The smart fob I have, for the same year as your model, is rectangular. Has three buttons, lock and unlock, and tailgate. On the back it has SMART DOOR LOCK. Capitals as per on the fob. But it is much smarter than that. The van can sense it when near and unlock the vehicle as you approach (including the side doors). If you walk away from the van with the fob in your pocket, the van will lock. I also think you cannot lock the unit in the van. It probably does a lot more, but those are the only features I am aware of. The immobiliser key should open close the sliding doors, if the dash switch is enabled. My immobiliser key has four buttons, Lock, unlock, and each power door. Good Luck.
Brandon Posted August 23 Author Posted August 23 Hi so I take it that I don’t have a smart key fob, I have a key fob which unlocks the car by pushing the buttons on it . so do you have 2 fobs one that starts the car with the key type fob and the other is a different fob which links to the black button on the door handle

Each set is a triangular immobiliser key, and the rectangular Smart key fob.
Brandon Posted August 24 Author Posted August 24 Hi many thanks for getting back to me again so I don’t have anything like that so I would need to buy the smart key fob and get it reprogrammed to my car
BigNev Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Hi there! Perhaps a picture of the one you do have would help? To avoid any confusion in description. Cheers, Nev

I don't have a part number for the remote, or know where to get one programmed / matched to the van. Maybe an auto-electrician can do it, maybe not. Maybe a Toyota dealer, but that won't be cheap. Make sure you have a spare immobiliser key. Without one you cannot start the van, even with the remote.
Brandon Posted August 24 Author Posted August 24 This is the only key I have but the question is do I need to buy a smart key fob and get it programmed so that I can just push the black button on the drivers door to unlock or lock the car , the key that I have got in the picture works fine and I have 2 more of these exact same keys. I would just love to know how to use the black button on the drivers door thanks again
Picasso Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Hello Brandon pm me your nin no. Or reg no. I will give you the part no. And a link where to get the smart remote from

You either need a remote as highlighted by Lee, or maybe some other issue is present. My guess ? You need the remote.
Brandon Posted Monday at 07:48 AM Author Posted Monday at 07:48 AM Hi many thanks for the info can can I ask can I buy a fob from alliexpress like this one in the picture or is this completely wrong

It looks nothing like the OEM unit, which has the Toyota trade mark moulded in. I doubt any, other than a genuine Toyota unit will work straight from the box. Maybe the Toyota one will need specialist programming, I don't know.
Picasso Posted Tuesday at 05:05 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:05 PM No it won’t work you need the smart fob to use the keyless option when pressing black button on the handle
Brandon Posted Tuesday at 05:46 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 05:46 PM Many thanks for letting me know it looks like I might have to bite the bullet and buy the proper one and hopefully it works and I haven’t got another problem with the keyless control unit which I’ve seen on eBay going for about £150 and then get it all reprogrammed

Brandon Posted Wednesday at 07:11 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 07:11 AM Hi can you also tell me what this is for as it came with the car
Rojie Posted Wednesday at 08:56 AM Posted Wednesday at 08:56 AM 1 hour ago, Brandon said: Hi can you also tell me what this is for as it came with the car Looks like a remote starter. I believe it is illegal to start a vehicle remotely in the UK if vehicle is on a public road.
